So I have been on Gaia since 2006 and my favorite part of the site used to be fishing. The forums weren't big yet, so everyone went fishing. Apparently when fishing became less popular, the fun went down the drain with it. I remember people used to chat all the time and I have played MANY rounds of Truth or Dare in fishing before. I spent hours and hours doing that, and I probably only filled a bucket or two of fish. Now when I try going into the fishing rooms, no one speaks a word, even if the room is full. What happened, Gaia?? Does anyone else remember how much fun it used to be?

I think they are focused on fishing. If you want to chat I would suggest going to Towns 2.

I'd have to second Malocide. The 2nd annual fishing tournament is going on right now. And unlike the usual monthly fishing contests, there are prizes for up to fifth place and fairly unique ones at that, so it's a wee bit more competitive than usual

I've had no problems with chatting in rooms.
My trick is to invite people to my room (with a password) so I have people I know joining me.
Most of the time we end up plotting for various RPs, but it's still fun.

A huge portion of normal fisher gave up on fishing a long time ago,
For what ever personal reason..
Fishing for the most part was never really exciting.
It is a boring sport in real life and even more boring gaming wise.

Try joining a room with new fishers newbies and such..
Competitive fishers will chat to a minimum or will only communicate with other pros alike.

I personally do not chat that much any more in the chat box,
When I fish I only got for what I need now and move on.

I would really love it if Gaia would bring back room naming in fishing.
With so much going on with gaia both good and bad I think its time for gaia to start giving in on some of the demands and just give us a second chance.


Sure trolls will be trolls.
But we would know where to hang out and where not to go and report them much faster for safe and fun fishers.

Personally I gave up on fishing ever since gaia gave up on us.
Such a shame.

I recently made two friends on the site from being in a fishing room

I like to chat, and talk about what rare catches that I get, and so do they. If you want a fishing buddy, ill fish with ya.

I ended up in a room a week or two ago that was like a party all evening. Most of the time, though, people are focused on catching as many fish as possible. Fun, chatty rooms are still there; you might just have to hop around some until you find one.
