Welcome to Gaia! ::

I stopped wearing my daffodil a long time ago, but I never took it out of my sig. I've had the dedictaion there to Vo and his dad ever since the original movement. I'd love to support the Daffodil Movement again this year. <3 If anyone needs gold for a bouquet, I'd be glad to help out.

To VO: While I've never lost a parent and can't even begin to understand the loss you've felt, as a loyal Gaian and fellow artist, I will always greatly admire you for not only surviving such a tragic event, but for also pulling through it to continue making Gaia the best it can be.

Thank you so much for putting me on the quilt. It is so nice to see the support start to come in for this thread. This is the link for the ribbons I mentioned.

Thanks! :3

(Whoa...bit of a page stretch.)

I want to ask you something though. Do you think, that my advertsing of this thread about a month before the actual event is disrespectful to Vo? I mean, as in trying to get people aware of it?

I had someone tell me they wouldn't want this being advertised so early because of the "building up steam" factor. Since you lost people to cancer, would you not want someone doing this so early?

It was just an idea that hit me today and I thought I'd go with it. This thread is also a memorial of the first movement as well.

Sorry about the page stretching. I just copied and pasted it from that thread because I don't know how to do that myself.

Myself, I wouldn't mind a month in advance. I understand that it will take time for word to get around and it's not like you are being loud or obnoxious about it.

VO must know that someone would do this and if he didn't want people to remember, he wouldn't have made it public. His father had nothing to do with Gaia and yet VO posted it on here. Obviously he loves his father very much and wanted him to always be part of a place he loves so much aswell. Although I don't know, I can imagine that his father supported him and encouraged him while Gaia was being created and will now always be a part of this community.

I also think that the best time to do things is when they are fresh in your mind because that is when you have the most passion for it and will do the best job you can. If you delay or put things off, then it really didn't mean that much to you to begin with.

I wouldn't want a big production made out of a memorail. It hurts and that hurt never goes away, it only lessons a bit at a time. My dad has been gone 11 1/2 years now but with my mom facing her final days, it is so very hard all over again. A quiet rememberance is perfect and I believe the daffodils is an excellent idea.

Daffodils have long been associated with cancer here in Canada although I don't know about elsewhere. April is nation cancer awareness month aswell. This is why I asked you to make it for everyone. We all know someone who has or is battling cancer or we know someone who does.

I am very happy that you have made this thread and I will be around often to check on it. Although this has been the most difficult post I have ever made, I sincerely hope that it has helped you. This is a link to the Canadian Cancer Society if you would like to know more about daffodils or April.

Just to help get the word about this thread out. smile
I still have the original thread in my subscriptions list. I really think it's wonderful to show our support this way. I'll be sure to have my flower on April 1st.

I think mpulver said it best: "Although we may not be able to express how much we're truly sorry, we can say this. Your not alone, and we all care about you. "

Thanks for the support. :3
Dunno what to say. ._. My aunt died of brain cancer, and my mom is recovering from breast cancer. Um. heart s to ya, VO.

D'you mind if I put a banner in the Theme Days Calendar? I know it's not really a theme day - it has much more meaning than that - but hopefully a lot of people will see it there. 3nodding
Good luck Cid!! heart

Great cause smile

Any words for Vo?
I think VO is a strong man. I cannot express in words over the internet how sorry I am to hear about his father but when I read VO's journal entry It really hit me and made me quite emotional. I just can't begin to imagine how VO felt when writing it. There are many Gaians who have lost a loved one to cancer, he is not alone. To all those men, women, boys and girls who have passed away from cancer, I hope they all rest in peace. heart
Thank you I a n z e r.

I'm sure Vo will appreciate it. whee
Such a great idea... I'll support this 100%, and be sure to don the flowers as of April ^^
