Who is Diedrich?
[NPC] Diedrich is, according to the staff, a grunny. It has been revealed in a particular
AtA that Diedrich is not the kind of grunny we know of (citation needed). Instead, he is
a new type and the only one of his kind. Because of this, people accustomed themselves
to calling him a "Grabbit".
Later on in the sites history, Diedrich started to reproduce on an event called
"Grunnygeddon" eliminating the excuse that he is the only one of his kind. The staff still
said he was the only one who could talk and walk upright, but this was later proven false
when Friedrich showed up.
Where did Diedrich come from?
Diedrich was invented by Jenzee (
as revealed by Reapersun) for
the 2010 Easter event (
as revealed by Narumi's journal). He was a grunny
that was born from "mystical" means on April fools, when Gambino was
murdered by Zhivago. His urn acted as an egg and gave birth to Diedrich.
What is a Grabbit?
The Diedrich strain of grunny, a phrase coined in the GCD when he first showed up.
Grabbits can walk on 2 legs, have one snaggle tooth, and have ears proportionally
longer than their bodies. They have pupils in their eyes, come in a variety of colors
(mostly bright bright bright green) and have the ability to speak. Grabbits can hatch
from eggs (
as revealed by Diedrich in 2010's Easter) and reproduce A sexually like
a sponge when they get fat. Grabbits are a nonsensical creation meant to imitate
grunnies, however: staff members and artists have been known to treat them as one in
the same.
Why do you hate Diedrich? He's so cute!
Not all of us think so, some of us find him to be quite ugly... but that's not the defining
factor. Different people have different reasons of course, but one of the most prevalent
reasons is because of the inconsistencies between Grabbits and Grunnies, and how
the staff seems to be replacing Grunnies with Grabbits.
Grunnies were a small, 4 legged animal similar to the rabbit who were infected with
something called the "G-Virus". They were zombies who reproduced by biting you.
The baby grunny fetus would slowly grow inside the victims brain after they were
infected, feed off of it, and drive the body around like a vehicle to gather more nutrients
and reproduce the Grunny population. For more information and citations regarding

There have been very few sightings of Grunnies in the past few years ever since
Diedrich showed up, only 2 instances as a matter of fact. Once in dref durr (on a
grombie) and another on the Gaia Anniversary when they released an arcade game
featuring a Grunny invasion.
It's not only that either, Diedrich has been in a lot of events ever since his birth
(Piehard, Thanksgiving, Risky Angels, Frontier Skies, Xmas with Old Pete, multiple Earth Days, every Easter event ever since he was born,
the missing waffles event, and the presidential debate event... you know... just to name a few) and is featured on buttloads
of advertiments for Gaia (
in the background for daily treat videos, he's on every offline
events banner, he's featured on Gaia's redbubble t shirts). He's basically in our faces...
and while it's true he's not in our faces today as prevalent as he used to be, it's still
an annoyance to acknowledge his existance.
