i think it's kinda weird. in the US we usually call a batch of episodes a season and the collection of all the episodes the series, so with doctor who since it's based in the UK i thought the series thing was a UK thing

but with doctors 1-8 it was seasons and doctors 9 and onward is the new "series"

Yeah, I thought it was to differentiate for the reboot type thing they did.

I always thought the Series would be the picking up of and ending of the show threw out the Past 50 years.
Example the first 6 doctors would be a Series.
And the the 9-11 would be a series as well.
So very few people call each batch a series I guess its in the person's view as too what to call it.

The series end In my eyes is when they say ok thats it the Doctor is dead and has reached his last regeneration. Thus ending it. Or when Doctor who goes on a hiatus like it did before the show's revamp and being brought back 2005.

But Like I said it depends on the person. Thinking of it as a Series end it being a finally depresses me xD

On Amazon Prime, where I watch, they're called Series 1, Series 2... and so on.
