Oh, yeah. It's goddamn annoying when people put BIG LETTERS and lots of music lyrics and stuff. I mean, I used to have that real bright post scheme back then, but then I realized how much it is annoying for people who use high contrast/brightness to read it. That, and I lost Firefox when my PC crashed, so the post format is gone. rofl
But I like to personalize my posts. It might be a way to make people remember you. And in such a big place like Gaia, people remembering you might be a good thing. ^^ (of course, if the post style is well-made...)
I love when people show their "flobs" or whatever it's called in the post style. Ya know, those headshots, or chibis, that stay at a corner of the poststyle? I really dig those stuff. =o might try to make one for myself as well...
well, i once came across a post style like this...

lyrics were in this space
and trust me,
it took up a lot of space.
a pretty decent amount of lines.
i don't get why they put
so many lyrics,
to the side.
it was like the whole song.
not even lying.
lalalalala.
lalalalala.
more lines because it was even more.
literally it was idk, 18 lines.
14
15
16
17
okay, last line.

this was the post.

and then they had lyrics again.
the other half of the song.
yep.
just imagine.
how horrible this was.
i was so annoyed.
and i had never been annoyed by a post style,
up until now.
god.
i don't know what they were thinking.
okay just pretend it was just as much lines as the last one.
because i'm not typing all this s**t out.

lyrics in post styles can be cute and they show people your favorite song or band, but please don't overdo it. one or two lines of lyrics is enough.

Does anyone ever READ those lyrics though? I just find them silly, like some sort of extra signature. The only time I've ever read them was when someone placed them so horribly that I couldn't see the difference between the lyrics and their comment, which just pissed me off and made me skip it altogether.

"What's your favorite NPC?"

"My heart is a dark and shadowed- "
Ian
"-a**s"

srsly, no.
Ice is forming on the tips of my wings
Unheeded warnings, I thought I thought of everything
No navigator to guide my way home
Unladened, empty and turned to stone...

Your heart is a dark and shadowed Ian a**s.
@Bells: Oh yes, I hate large letters. They make me feel like we're all back in Kindergarten and we have to write in those huge-lined papers.

...A soul in tension that's learning to fly
Condition grounded but determined to try
Can't keep my eyes from the circling skies
Tongue-tied and twisted just an earth-bound misfit, I
I think I was looking through the mini shops or something, and I kept seeing these nasty post styles with pictures, quest statuses, song lyrics, and we can't forget the different colored text, now can we? gonk

The most I have ever put was a little GIF image at the top.
My post style is boring XD

**Black Ink**
Really light coloured text like bright blue that you have to squint to read.
I know I used to have the coloured text but I changed it when I got a complaint about it xd
**For Sailor Violet?**

I once saw an x-over chat RP where the post was buried under a bunch of post styles. x_x

I usually don't mind big post styles when it comes to RPs if I can automatically locate the actual post, but outside of RP, it's annoying to see images crowding around a post (-glares at A/M/C regulars' post styles)
i hate it when people have crazy amounts of crap in their posts. especially when you quote them and it just looks god awful. i can understand a small picture or something, but do you really need to have you text completely surrounded with nonsense?
learn to simplify!

Lit·er·a·ture – noun writings in which expression and form, in connection with ideas of permanent and universal interest, are characteristic or essential features, as poetry, novels, history, biography, and essays.

"I'm a huge fan of post styles - when done correctly, and when unobtrusive. People that just crazy format and don't bother to put time into thinking about how it will look, if it is too big/small or too confusing, do bother me.

I put a lot of time into my post styles. I often revise them multiple times to make sure that they are attractive, convey my current emotion/thought/expression and yet do not interrupt my actual post. I always try to make sure that my text clearly stands out and is readable.

As far as other peoples post styles...
Generally, if you just have a line of something on top and on bottom, I'll usually skip to just what your actual post is and won't bother checking what the extra stuff says. If it's not pretty looking, I'll just skip to your actual text.

Anywho - out of curiosity... Is my post style too much? Too little? Just right?"

scrom, i think your post style is cute. i love how you add what you're currently reading to it. C:

P.S. read Paper Towns by John Green.

I seriously hate when people have copious amounts of lyrics, pics, text, or excessive formatting (rainbow text, anyone?).

I understand prettying a post up. I'm not anti-decoration, but it should be just that - decoration. Simple, well thought out, and appropriate.
Bold Pink works for me, and people can read it, do to it in bold. But I get lazy and I don't use it often. but some people really want to be different so they go overboard with the text.

Also, With lyrics, I don't mind it so much if people can put it into a image/icon/marquee. That way it's easier to distinguish from the post itself.

@ Diachan - I can understand that. I have had post styles that can sometimes be a pain in the butt when quoting :/
              @ Soiraen - Thanks!

I like post styles, it is just hard to read
some of the light colored ones or the
bold eye stinging ones.

The ones I hate the most are the 'I Spy' ones.

@scromlette
I just wish yours didn't have the definition of literature on it. I start reading it because I think it's the beginning of your post gonk

@OP
I'm still a little iffy about the underline in mine. People have told me that it doesn't bother them and looks fine, but I still just don't know. I try to not put this format on long posts of mine.
