Your Post Style is Nice and All but...

Have you ever come across someone who has an intricate and well put together pst style that you find incredibly hard to read? I come across these a lot. They're impressive and look like they've had a lot of effort put into them, but I have to squint, play I Spy, or back up from my monitor in order to read them.

It's either a problem of -
Hard to read text, might be too small or too lightly colored.
Too much in it, there's a bunch of other quotes in their style that I confuse to be their actual post.
Too easy to read text. As tupid as it sounds, every once in a while I come across a post style that's big, bold, brightly colored, and worst of all, CAPS.

Or at least those are the ones that I find to be a problem.

I never really got the appeal of post formats that have lyrics in them. I tend to ignore any post with lyrics in them.

What on earth is the point in having lyrics in your posts if it's obvious no one pays attention to it? It's like the lyrics are there just to .. be there. It isn't logical at all.

Plain black text is fine for me.

I read and wonder what the hell they're talking about. It's even worse when the actual content is in a smaller font than the decoration.

Regardless I still feel bad about my rather bland posts. ._.;
BUT- back in my day we had no post style and all this fancy-schmancy stuff.

I find them pretentious when they distract from the text. My "post style" would be very basic. The entire point of it is to make it easier to read.

In fact the more crap I see shoved into a text box the less I want to read it.

I'm really sick of "extra" text that has nothing to do with the comment. Like song lyrics placed poorly so as to be confused with what they're saying. Not only is it frustrating but it's horribly cheesy.

I don't think my post style is hard to read. I don't think the font's too tiny or light, and you don't have to play Where's Waldo to find my post--one line of poetry on top and one on bottom. </obviousstatements>

Post styles never really bother me, unless there's more lyrics/quotes/poetry/whatever else in your post than what you actually have to say. Like, when there's 16 lines from a song on top of your post and the rest below your post, but you only say a few words yourself, what's the point? =/

I also hate stuff that's in all caps. It's hard for me to read for some reason. Plus, I feel like I'm getting yelled at.

There are people who post a WALL of song lyrics in a dark color, post their one-sentence comment in a color and/or size that I have to strain to read, followed by ANOTHER wall of text at the bottom.

WHY?

My posts are annoying, yes-- I mean, look at that graphic.
LOOK AT IT. YOU HAVE NO OTHER CHOICE.
But at least they're readable.

I don't like post styles with a billion pictures in them. Those pictures that came from Myspace? Yeah, they should stay there.

To be honest ones with images tend to annoy me.
And the ones with text and images and other text are just confusing.

I prefer to keep mine plain and simple 3nodding

Yes, I do come across these kind of post styles. A while ago I saw one where I had to look pretty hard to find the actual post. That's why I like to keep mine plain and simple.

I normally don't use post styles.. Except for changing the text size or something. But on occasion I'll spruce it up a little. (( Ex: Now, due to cosplaying )) I absolutely hate those "I'm questing -posts up 58640 pictures of the items I want in my post-" Styles. :'|.. And.. I don't like bright text colors.. I intend NOT to go blind thank you.
Pictures I don't mind, as long as they're appropriate. I don't like staring at boobs or a half naked man in someone's post.

If there's too much text in it that's not relevant to the topic but random lyrics, poems or other humbug, I'll get confused and distracted XD;

Huge Post formats - When the art they use is larger than what they post its just annoying. Keep. It. Simple. Stupid (and whats with all the ugly large avi art lately?! If your going to be obnoxious at least make it look good. )

If its large I will adblock the large images regardless of quality.


Now for color.... light colors I will 99% of the time just skip. I don't even want to waste a second highlighting their post just so I can read it.

I'm not a huge fan of them, myself. If I can't read it without getting close to my computer screen I will pass over their comment.

The older I get, the harder it is to read size 9 font.

Does anyone ever READ those lyrics though? I just find them silly, like some sort of extra signature. The only time I've ever read them was when someone placed them so horribly that I couldn't see the difference between the lyrics and their comment, which just pissed me off and made me skip it altogether.

Bleh, I don't care if post styles have a lot of thought put into them. I hate most "creative" or "thought out" post styles. Sometimes if I have trouble finding the actual post text immediately (especially among crappy song lyrics) then I skip the post entirely.

Small pixels above text don't bother me much, though.
