Hello thar! Uncle PP here smile . I figured with all the current round of threads complaining about the site or posting about the current round of CS items, I make a new topic in regard of Gaia and no I don't care if this topic has been done before, hush.

The Map.
Probably one of the most underused, overlooked, and outdated features of the site, it has been a mainstay for Gaia since its early years as a unique way for users to navigate the site like an overworld map for a videogame. You can visit the forums via Barton, go to Durem get to Vanessa's hair salon, and go to Isle Gambino to play in the casino. It was also used in many of Gaia's past storyline and holiday events, like how in the past when you would collect candy you could find Jack, Santa, or the Easter Bunny stalking map and deliver any candy or eggs you got from visiting the shops or posting in the forums. Even some of the old relics from other events like the Zurg Warp Gate and the remnants of Halloween Town (which as far as I'm aware of never really got used for anything) can be seen. As of now....it hasn't really been used much for anything pertaining to the storyline(s) going on the site, maybe that will change soon with the new story update we got? To me it certainly should, it's something that makes it stand out from other avatar websites because it had been integral to the storied history of Gaia and in some ways still is. That, and it is in some seriousness need of an update, some of that art on there is OOOLLLLDDDD (like me).

I haven't really used it, only a couple times in the past. Although, every time I do use it, I was find it fascinating and I don't understand why. xD

I think it would be wonderful to have Gaia use the world map for more events and story updates~ I think that would get more users to use it. c:

First of all, I would like it to be updated to show many more areas, and all the stores.
Secondly, I think it would be fun to be able to put your friends into the map "system", and any time you view it, you would see your friends all dotted about according to where they were at any time lol

1. I do use or did used to use the World Map! Even if it's been years since it was useful for shops and arenas, some still use it for games, and I definitely used it when events involved it. I remember finding Jack, haha. And even more recently I watched with great excitement as the missile flew last Halloween, because the map is a great feature and I like ANY time it gets use. Remember when the new Von Helson manor and Halloweentown were introduced?
Remember when Towns 1 access through there was relevant? We should get an update for Towns 2, while I'm dreaming.

2. I DO THINK IT SHOULD BE INCORPORATED MORE. I don't know how, though. I assume devs have the same problem. sweatdrop It would be fun if it was even updated just for shops access, and you could see traveling shops moving through map tiles, or if you could click and pick certain spots in Halloweentown to rebuild.
We should be able to see the Demigods' ship when it gets nearer to the Island, I think. ;n;

3. Journals, guilds, journals.

Bonus: Nope. Not in the least.

I remember all the shenanigans that happened on the map. H2k4 there was a bomb that went across the map.

I still use the world map. I like to think my character I RP with is from the Gaiaverse. I really hope they update it with more areas but that seems unlikely.

Aww man, that looks really fun. I wasn't around for that.

Aside the zombie event, it was the second best event I think! Little icons of the characters were on the world map in an olympic race and every so often would move (you'd have to refresh once a while) and it was just such fun to watch. And then Edmund got distracted by a random woman XD

i used to love the world map
i remember when gambino's tower fell, and they had it crashed across the map

i'd like to see it used more for sure
especially with the upcoming battles between our dark lord nyx and gaia
i want to see a battlefield, camps for armies, scouting teams, apocalyptic destruction!

I actually like maps in general, but I never liked Gaia's. It always felt a bit clunky and outdated, even when it was new. It reminds me of some ancient GeoCities page that has been frozen in time. I think if it was overhauled and updated it might be a bit better, but I'd probably never really use it anyway. It's fun to look at but not really all that useful, IMO.

I check it out every once in a while out of nostalgia. I'd really, really love to see it updated to all the changes that have gone on with shops, and to see some zOMG areas added even if zOMG is dead. I'd love to have the new housing areas incorporated as well, like links to go directly to a certain towns housing area.

I never used the map (I'm from '08), I don't really care for it either uo u; having to use it to get to the games or shops just sounds tedious to me, sorry, maybe if they made a game that revolved around using it... if there was a cool reward, but as it is, sorry XD 0% interested in it.

I've always loved worldmaps, whenever I came up with an original story set in a world of my creation my favourite part was drawing a detailed world map for it XD

So yeah, really like Gaia's worldmap and wish it was used more often. Kinda wish it had a zoom in/zoom out feature and was a bit more dynamic than just square tiles.

I use a combo of zOMG map and world map for Gaia when doing RPs involving Slick and Jor. cool

They live near Bass'ken Lake and Jor likes to slither in there and terrify the local fishermen/steal their bait. He also tends to eat those who pollute in his lake or at least make them sing his favorite song over and over till their voices break.
