What I find comical about all of this, is that no one realizes that World of Warcraft has been named the bigged game since PAC-MAN, and the biggest subscription based game in HISTORY.

How is this not successful?

Because Sherman is a moron...
WoW does nothing for me--I think the graphics are utterly hideous and the outfits are generic, and to me, that's one of the most important aspects of an MMORPG. If I don't like the character/armor designs, I won't play the game.

But I'm not going to deny that it's uber-successful.
Let's just hope that if he collapses under the cumbersome weight of his own ego it doesn't take Gaia with it.
I love how you added other people's quotes to the first page but completely disregarded him posting in here at all. rofl

Great Job! You're so cool!
Oh wow. I only thought Gaia wanted the MMO for.. Just gaia, just like a nice little addition.
But OMG, they're competing? WOW. They must have put their mind into this MMO.

In my opinion, WOW isnt somethign so great about. It makes my head hurt after the first 10 minutes. >.>

The issue has been resolved as far as I'm concerned. I have read fin's post and I cannot argue against clarification, the clarification he provided in his post, thusly - I have added his post to the front page for other people to review before making their own minds up, and thusly - contributing to my discussion.

I do not need to be attached to Gaia Online day in, day out to sufficiently maintain a thread suit for discussion on all levels of social interaction.

I love how you need to come into my thread on your self righteous horse and maintain inconclusive rapport. Great job! You didn't contribute anything but a troll-filled-post to my thread! Seeya! biggrin
when gaia has commercials featuring mini me and mr t then we'll talk.

if WoW wasn't such a "success" then why are they getting support and actually having some real commercials out on tv (ie, night elf mohawk Mr. T, Mini Me's Gnome warlok, etc)?? and with the new expansion coming out there will be countless more coming up within the next few months leading upto it

What I want to know is why fin has n00bs in his friendslist.

mrgreen
The only thing that really makes me angry about this is that they do not count the thousands of players who also play on private servers. biggrin

And ALSO- there may be 800 million teens in the world or whatever- but that doesn't meant all of those 800 million teens in the world have computers or access to internet, or the funds to play WoW.

I think this has all already been covered but I just felt like saying this.

That quote looks out of context. However, I don't care because WoW doesn't appeal to me.
Craig's always put a bad image out of Gaia. He calls it a "teen hangout", somehow it always feels as if he's excluding the many adults that play. It's not wrong to build a business model around teens. I don't give a flying ******** if he comes in later and tries to right his wrong. It's when you're doing interviews and representing Gaia when you have to be careful.

I personally hate Craig and what he's done to Gaia. The day he resigns or gets fired I will be happy.

He's definitely right: in terms of shear numbers, Gaia Online does have more "subscribers" than WoW.

No, he's wrong. Gaia Online claims 2.5 million active users a month. That's 1/4 the amount of active users (since every WoW subscription number given ONLY includes active accounts) that WoW has. So, being a free MMO/whatever has done nothing to help Gaia Online get more users than WoW.

And to the people claiming that WoW is so popular because it's so highly advertised, learn a little history before saying ignorant crap like that. Within it's first six months of launch, with limited advertisement and zero television commercials, WoW exceeded 2.5 million users, which put it ahead of Lineage, the long-time king in the market. The reason WoW was able to do television commercials using Office Space and cult-favorite celebrities is because it was such a success.

WoW is king because Blizzard is one of few companies in the industry (Valve and Bioware being two others) that takes the time they need to polish their product, unlike most which rush to market with incomplete games.
