Too many problems can be just as annoying though. There was one person who was in a group I RPed with and alllll of his characters had a severe illness. It was weird. One would die, and another character with an illness would take over as their main character while talking to their eventual replacement. Because they had 5 characters at any given time. s**t was crazy.

.... okay, that's weird.

I've never been one for group RPs, though. It's a weir shyness. I love 1x1s, where I end up play like 30+ characters, but I really like that because it means it can't really get boring.

I've never had a character be sick like that though... family problems? Check! Addictions! Check! Multiple Personalities? Check! Illness? Only if they were going to die... (though depending on the RP, it's completely possible to bring them back).

I don't know. RPs are weird.

I know, right?

Varying problems are one thing. It makes sense, because a lot of s**t happens in real life. But when you stick to one thing that goes wrong it's odd. Like a one trick pony. It gets old and boring with a dash of weird.

I've always liked group RPs. I've always prefered having one character per role play, because I can spend all my time developing that one character. But group RPs are a trade off though. You get more people, and depending on the people, that can be a good or bad thing. On gaia it depends on the people who recruit the other RPers. If they don't give a s**t it can get awful. Which always happens from my experience.

Truly!

The only group RPs I've been in have always ended bad. There's this assumption that if you can't write 5 pages per post or more then you aren't up to par. I'm interested in the interaction between characters, sometimes mine, sometimes others... but sometimes I really feel like expected post lengths get in the way of that. The longest RPs I've had have ranged literarly from one liners to about 3-5 pages a post. It goes up and down all the time and the acceptance of the fluctuation allows for freedom and bad days without breaking the routine of posting.

I've just found that stoping makes it harder to respond later. A consister, even once a day or once every two days makes it much easier to respond, especially if there's a bit of a plot slump at that moment.
