So, my Question to the you people is: What makes a Username Desirable, or not?

For me, one of the reasons why certain usernames appeal to me, is because they generally consists of 5-8 letters, long usernames would give TONS of possible nicknames for that particular person, so it would be hard (For that user) to find content said about them through the forums.
I don't like usernames that have '_, -, [, ], or random numbers in them, because it just looks messy, same goes for capitolized usernames. So pretty much clean is the real deal.
I don't really mind un-original overused usernames like 'Kitsune', 'Chibi', 'Demon' or 'Ninja'. It can be a little hard when you refer to a certain person with an overused username. xD

Using these perferences, I picked THIS particular name for my account.

But if you're talking about a good, memorable username, that's a whole different ballpark than what "desirable" implies.

I also personally dislike usernames with anything but letters, numbers or a couple of underscores just because I also think it looks messy. I suppose there are people who dislike gaps in usernames, like mine, but as long as the word is not too long I think it can look nice. I didn't like the way "noirist" looked just that way, but with gaps I did. Don't ask me why, just personal aesthetics. whee

I also don't dislike those key words you mentioned. The thing I don't really like is when people have their real names with numbers as their usernames. Not very imaginative and when they have their forename and surname surely (to a very small degree) unsafe?

Well for me, finding a username is a massive undertaking,
Like seriously, I have a BIG problem with naming things.. I am horrible at it!
I could never think of good names for my Pokemon and would literally sit there
on the "Do you want to give a nickname to this Pokemon?" screen for ages
until I thought of one I liked. I would have a hard time naming a pet too.. and
I have no idea what will happen when I have a child. xd

My old username on this account was annoying to type every time I had
to log in. I had a ton of spaces. Like, a space in between each letter. It was
beyond annoying.. so that is something undesirable to me. But when I was
trying to think of this name it seriously took me a long time to settle on one.
This name is desirable to me now because at the time I wanted to name
myself after one of my all time favorite anime/manga characters but also
have more meaning behind it than just his name. The -chu part came to
me after I reread the manga. It is just a tiny particular scene that made me
smile so I decided to use it. It sounded cute together when I read the name
out loud so I am still happy with it.

What would make a username undesirable for me would be having even
one number in it. XD Or an X or something .. blah Dx

I'm implying what makes a username look or sound 'nice'.
Memorable or Catchy is not broad enough to fit the criteria for what I wanted to ask.

You'll be surprised about the amount of stuff people say about you.
That's why I keep my usernames unique, so it narrows down the search.

I like usernames that are only one word, and usernames that sound like a real name but aren't. I don't like usernames with loads of numbers, partly because it looks untidy and partly because it's too hard to remember if I ever want to type it.

Unfortunately, I do not have that sort of username. I don't particularly like mine, but I'm too used to it to change it.
