Welcome to Gaia! ::

Recently I purchased Actaeon's Blessing. I mostly got it because I love the yellow/gold eyes, but I really like the antlers as well.
Soon after purchasing it, I noticed that the green works very nicely with Sibyl's Incantation. So, I decided to throw an avatar together using these colors and item's I already have.
Okay so this may seem like it's going nowhere, but here is my question.
Where do you get your inspiration?
Perhaps you have a favorite color and decided to make a whole avatar based around that.
Or maybe your favorite EI just had an AMAZING evolution and you simply must create an avatar for it.
Maybe your cosplaying one of your favorite characters? {Or at least, trying very hard to.}
I wanna know, what makes you coordinate your items the way you do?

Usually I just pick one main item that I really want to use, then go through my inventory and the marketplace and match around it until I'm satisfied.

Then at other times, when I just want to cosplay, I pick the central theme of that character and go from their.

I tend to do the first of those two. Except I try not to go through the Marketplace because I'll end up blowing too much of my gold. If I can't make a good enough avatar with the items I already have, I'll choose a different theme.

Usually I'll have a few favorite items and then go on a spending spree buying commons that match that item.
That, or I just put on random things for no apparent reason..

Occasionally, I'll just pick a random pose off a random item and try to build an avi around that.
Lately, though, I've been trying to make avatars that look good with the beret from my Journal (since my 4th gen one got the pose at its last evo...I MISSED IT BAD.) So, I'm taking advantage of it until the Journal's next evo.

Well... right now my avi is inspired by two mangas i got hooked on, but usually i see shiny items and make an avi out of them.

I don't always go through the marketplace - but if I'm really dead set on an item and have nothing that matches perfectly, then I will trawl through in search of a bargain.

Hm... I build my avatar according to color scheme, genre theme, or from two unappreciated items that work well together. Items that get my interest depends on how well it goes with my hair, the item's characteristic, the layering, and/or item's price. Of course, I also am biased when it comes to themes that I like in general (turtle, school uniform, culture, adventure, etc).
I usually start by picking an item or two to work with and going from there.

Like here, I really wanted to use Micheal's memory and Briar's shot. >_>
I've had the same avatar for a while now, but today I lost the halo and gained the hat (and some awesome art!)

Usually I pick a theme/colors from a certain item and then work around that. This one I got from my gogh reed butterflies and luck of the gairish. 4laugh

I usually stick to two colors that I like and go from there. Like my current avatar. I am currently in love with purple and black.

That and I loved Gogh Reed's newest evolution.

Today, my avatar is fueled by memes.

And the fact that the Outlaw pants are glitched.

I usually pick an item I really want to use and then create an avatar by picking items in my inventory that go with it.
Sometimes I'll do a theme like Christmas in July, my current theme.
Or sometimes I'll pick two or three random colors and make an avatar with items that share those colors.
Usually I pick a theme based on how I'm feeling. Kyla has generally the same "base" (The cat items/skin, nitemare band, tattoos) and then I give her different outfits. At the moment I tried to give her a "sky pirate" look. I really love the Mint Buttercream Rose item when I want to give her a "Sweet Lolita" look. So usually when I dress her up, I think "Hmm...do I want Kyla to look cute, sexy, adventurous, kickass....." And then I pick something based on that.
