My thoughts exactly. I guess they thought it would be unfair to only give the gold to new users or something? Though established users won't really benefit from 10k.

As someone who just finished a 3.6 mil quest and only have ~50k in gold, 10k goes a long way x)

Useless gold is useless. I suppose 10k COULD help if I decided to quest for the items, but why would I do that? The items I want were originally around 1m, now they're above 10m. I refuse to pay inflated prices, and I refuse to sit on even more gold that I cannot spend.

»»» And let us be perfectly honest. A new user, just freshly starting out on the site, will not get far with 10k unless they stick to gold shop items. And even if they start to quest for higher end items, with each re-release of Flynn's Booty, pretty much everything goes up in price. So in the end, how far DOES that 10k get you, when you are ever chasing after a dream that the site purposely continues to push out of reach in efforts to make you spend money? You can booty grab, you can play zOMG, but none of it is enough. You will never earn the gold fast enough to keep up with the constantly inflating prices.

I didn't personally get a visit from the Welcoming Fairy, not that I need 10k. But, I find it funny that users who have been on for 5+ years have claimed to have received a message from her. I guess 9 1/2 years as a member is the cut off, everyone. emotion_awesome
