and for me, the worth of the avatar its not important, like i see people going crazy and calling ugly avatars good because they have an old collectible, for me, a well done avatar its the bigger status symbol, more than 10 ´03 items, it shows you do have taste and put you aside of the bad avatars group, of course this is just my opinion, the wealth of the avatar doesn´t matter, it matter how well done it is <3■▐

Personally, i've seen some very lovely cluttered avis without the need of expensive items, and the same with the other way around. But it all depends on the persons taste. I just use items that would fit well with my avis outfit, not because of its status but more for how it'll play out well with the others.

Sometimes with expensive items, a lot of them are really detailed, so its a lot harder, i guess to work with. Some go well alone or less covered up. I don't pay attention of the items status, but more of how it's used. Because there are people who aren't rich, but they've worked very hard for that one really expensive item.

With me, it takes me a lot of time to find a combination i really like, I can't do cluttered avis well nor simpler ones either, and sometimes i try to avoid using items i can't afford on tektek. I take a while to get an outfit how i want it >.< But there are times when one has to quest. heart

I use to think that i wanted the devil tail for so long..thinking it was pretty as well as a status to all gaians that i was wealthy or rich or knowledgable..but i decided that it would be much more rewarding to have a lot of little items instead of one big item..

For me, it's either the well-themed or well-matching avatars that I love.
I know this has been said in probably nearly every post, but I also have to agree; Even if you've spent a millionbajilliongajillion gold on your items, it will still look like crap if you've just thrown in every expensive item out there.
It shouldn't matter how much an avatar is worth in gold, but the over-all look is what should count.
Unfortunately, in the avatar arena, it isn't exactly like that.
It's like, the more expensive s**t you pour onto it, the higher your score will be.
Or the more friends you have. Lol.

If I like an avatar, I like it... It doesn't matter to me if the items used are worth five thousand gold or fifty million. I've seen some very nice designs done on both ends of the scale, so it's not as simple as either/or.

One thing I *can* say I don't like at all are total clutter-bombs. I don't care how tight their theme is or how matchy-matchy the colors are... If I can't tell there's an avatar base under the piles of crap they've equiped, it's Too Darn Much. xp

I did a lot of art in my time *points to sig* and a lot of my items are commission payments.

I did 8 pieces for a friend for these laurels, quested the horns, and my friend who was letting me borrow her d-tail told me I could have it if I did her some good art.
So I guess talent pays on Gaia. xD

But all of them I put my own work into and/or are from friends, so I like to wear them a lot.

It is important, though, to be able to put down your favorites and expensive items for the sake of an avatar. That's what makes the difference between someone who likes to use their best items and those who just want to show off. Sometimes I have my cheap and simpler days of experimentation. It's a good break from the norm.

Thank you. :] I like a lot of the expensive items, not much for the status, but because they just look good and easy to match with(thus they are expensive lol since most people agree).
Yours matches pretty well. :3 So like the others have said, it doesn't have to have an epic 03/04 item, just as long as it matches nicely.

Most n00bs can't match worth a flip, so that's why most people judge based on avis. It's like the real world with outfits and looks. : P

I, unfortunately can't draw, so I guess it's just posting for me~ I agree with you though, sometimes you can't have your precious shiny items, for the greater good.
