i appreciate any well-done avatar, whether it costs only a few gold or several million.

this whole notion of rich avatars is relative, too. i don't think that avatars with 04 or later items are rich. but i do think that avatars with early 03 items are rich. one thing i realized, though, is that you can't wear most of the 03 items together without looking very cluttered. a lot of the items just don't go together.

I'm saying, do you appreciate a cheaper better done avatar, or a cluttered expensive avatar.
There's no discussion there. You're already qualifying the cheaper avatar as "better", so what are we supposed to say? "Wow, I totally love the cluttered expensive avatar more even though it's objectively worse by the rules of the original hypothetical?" rolleyes

I read a few of the first pages and you seem to be trying to make this a fair argument by saying, "Well, you could like ugly expensive avatars because you're just impressed by their sheer cost." Still not a lot of discussion there.

In short, people are not talking about what you want them to talk about because your original topic is incredibly shallow. The entire topic seems set up for people to be like, "You know, expensive avatars have their place, but I also like cheap, but tastefully color-balanced avatars. WEALTH ISN'T EVERYTHING."

Well I'm very sorry I offended you. It seems like you're agitated. You are right, though, it was a silly topic and I am beggining to regret it with all of this being thrown at me, but yes, it is biased as I said 'cheaper better', Sorry about that.

Baja would go for the better looking avatar.
Cheaper avatars will always look better than some expensive thing that doesn't flow and is just some snob users way of showing off.

I guess I don't associate items to personalities. O:

That's not what I'm saying, I'm just asking you what you appreciated more.

I see.

For me it's pretty equal.
A good avatar is a good avatar.
Be it expensive or dirt cheep. C:

I personally love all of my items, but I do tend to use the more expensive ones, simply because there are more poses to utilize.
I agree with you...
Me likes sexy, loli, naughty, and/or elegant avatars. I don't care wether they're worth 10k or 10m.
Also, personally, I will always make an avatar that includes both gloves and stockings. >w< So gorgeous.
General Awesome
There are times I just say "******** it" and throw on all my most expensive s**t. Hey, I worked for that, and I want you to know I have it.

Exact same thing for me. That's why I wear my katana on every avatar, even if it doesn't fit the theme. It was the very first item I had ever quested for.
I have a lot of expensive items so I really like showing them off whenever I can. >Hehe<

But I try my best to balance it out so it looks good. And I can definitely appreciate when someone has a really good avatar with inexpensive items.

I know, right? =D
Well I usually try to balance it out too. Lucky the katana consists of neutral colors.
I think that it's only natural as humans to appreciate more expensive things instead of admiring something cheaper. For an example, I'm sure more people would worship a brandy new million dollar car than a car from the 80s that does the same exact thing.

As for avatars, I've seen really amazing expensive avatars and really tacky and unattractive ones and vice versus. And from my understanding, there seems to be an unspoken class system already in place. Most people will say that you're "poor" if you don't have x amount of item worth while they'll say that you're rich beyond anyone wildest dream if you have a hoard of 03 items or something of equal value.

Yes, I agree, shame about the class system though crying
I feel I fall some where in between.

I don't think cheaper ones are better, or expensive ones. I think you really need to think about colour, or theme and that's it. I've seen super cute avatars made with items from only the gold shops, and and ones covered in '03 and '04 items that I thought were cluttered and over the top.

I think if one wants to show off how rich they are, or how well they invested years ago on their avatar, that's awesome, and they should do it, because it's fun, and whatever. If one wants to show off how well they can match colours, or keep with a theme, or cosplay or whatever, they should do that.

The only criteria I have for avatars is cuteness. So yeah... Maybe not the person to answer.

(Also, had a drink.. so...)

As long as the avatar looks nice it doesn't matter how much the things on it cost. I've seen someone an avatar made up of mostly 03's and 03' event items and the avatar didn't look very nice. While it is nice to have an 03' item or some other kind of expensive item, it isn't necessary to make a spiffy avatar.
