Well I was buzzing about the avatar talk forum just now, checking items and such by clicking to view the users items, and I've noticed that a lot of the nicer avatars, were simpler and less expensive. Which got me to thinking, when you see an avatar that has a lot of flashy or expensive items on, but they're all jumbled and don't look very nice, are you more impressed by that avatar than a simple and well done, albeit, cheaper avatar?

Personally I think that too many people are attracted to the avatar with the expensive items on, over the simpler avatars, as i do see a lot of rich Gaian's decked out in expensive items that don't look good. Not only that but the further I delve, I see that the rude gaian's I've seen much prefer lots of expensive items, whilst you lovely folks in the community discussion and avatar talk like a simpler avatar. Is it possible that a class system, complete with ignorant rich folks could exist on gaia? what are your thoughts?

Edit:-

Seriously guys, I can't stress this enough, I'm not saying "do you hate a person for their avatars if they're not rich enough?". I'm saying, do you appreciate a cheaper avatar, or an expensive avatar.

What I said about the rude forum and good forum, is that people in different forums appreciate different things, which is visible by the avatars, like how everyone is so refined here and in the avatar talk and everyone isn't as refined about avatars in the GD where they mainly use it as a status symbol, once again, I'm sorry if I offended anyone, I did not mean to, that's for sure.

I just like cute avatars, like yours~! But I don't really judge anyone based off of how they dress their avatar. :s

Oh dear, I'm not saying judge them! That would be rude, I wouldn't like it if anyone judged me by my avatar, I didn't even have it yesterday, I feel that everyone deserves a chance.

EDIT: Your avatar is very expensive, yet very beautiful, that's what I like, a good balance of wealth and prettyness.

There are times I just say "******** it" and throw on all my most expensive s**t. Hey, I worked for that, and I want you to know I have it.

Wow, I never thought of that! I suppose I do admire these expensive avatars, I think, wow, they must have worked so hard.

I like simple avatars or silly/fun avatars.

Really cluttered avatars get me down!

heart THANKS X heart

I normally am very precise with my avatars. There are normally two times when I ignore my rules. During an event where I throw on all the crap I earned and when I just finished questing and I have to much of a headache to make it match. I find cheaper avatars are easier to match but expensive avatars when matched look beutiful.

Really with avatars it depends on what individuals find pleasing. Myself I like avatars that are put together well despite the price tag on their items.

Avatars that are just a bunch of high prices items decked on them tend to be not very appealing at all to me - but someone else might like that. *shrugs* I have found it can depend on the forum your in, the AT has different standards (that still change user to user) for what makes a good avatar then say the exchange.

Check my journal for my 25 avatar holiday countdown. feel free to comment.
I think, quite often, if an avatar seems absolutely cluttered with expensive items and is an unrecognisable mess, then that avi is clearly just an attempt to show off how rich the user is in Gaian terms. Expensive items are all well and good, but personally I'd rather see a great looking avi made with only commons or inexpensive MCs/etc than a 5million-worth messy blob that makes my eyes burn...

There is definitely a class system in Gaia, a popular mentality on Gaia is that expensive items make one superior, and thus must be shown off to everyone else.

For me, it's not what items a user puts on that impresses me, it's the way they creatively use it. Like yours, it's super cute and the color scheme makes my insides happy. @ w@

Yet at the same time, you have to have some sort of admiration for these hard working folks! It must take a lot of posting to earn 5million gold.

I always prefer a nice looking one over one with every plushie known to Gaia-dom plastered to their every pixel.
There are snobs everywhere, but I don't see why someone would act so here or in the real world.
I don't mind what you wear so long as you don't try to rub it in my face that I am "without".
Gaian snobbery is not just limited to avatars but to tanks as well.

Glowing? Bump here!
simple outfits with a few tasteful expensive items are classier usually, and say "wealthy" to me more.

come mothers and fathers
throughout the land
and don't criticize
what you can't understand;
your sons and your daughters
are beyond your command.

Either way works for me.
Some people like making aesthetically pleasing outfits... some people like cramming everything expensive onto one avatar just because it's possible.

There's no right or wrong way to do it, just have fun with it.
Don't worry whether other people are going to like it. What's important is that you like it.
