GCD, I've noticed a little something by poking my little pixelated nose around the forums. There seems to be this idea of classes on Gaia. Newbies cry about being considered "lower class", "higher class" Gaians are talked about with jealous or admiration, and it seems like the majority of Gaians consider themselves to be somewhere in the "middle class" or even "working class".

So.. where is this idea coming from? Certainly, someone in flame pants and lidless demon armor doesn't exactly entice feelings of overpowering envy and awe, but someone drowning in the newest and most expensive items who doesn't know what forum to post a topic in or how zomg works isn't usually seen as an.... upper crusty (if you'll excuse how creepy that term sounds).

Personally, when I see someone as being "high class" they're the full package; a nice avatar, perhaps utilizing some items on the pricier side of the market, a sleek post style, memorable signature, someone who has meaty posts full of good discussion, who seems to be well known and knowledgeable.* But I'm curious about what other people think, of themselves and others, in terms of "class".

Yeah. It is due to the amount of friends they have, popularity, items, etc.

Close to the very bottom. I'm currently smoking 5 packs of cyber cigarettes a day to cope with being here.

What makes someone low-class/middle-class/high-class to you?
Low-class:
Outfit, avatar's face, how they post.

Middle-class:
Rinse and repeat

High-class:
Oh so very popular, same as low-class.

Does class matter to you? In what way?
Yes.
Mainly because it takes forever to climb up the ladder, yet so easy to fall off.

I don't really pay attention to things like that however some people are just obsessed with where they fall in the Gaian world. I find that the people who don't care, are generally considered to be the upper class I guess.

I don't know why it works out like that, but it just seems to. I know from first hand you can never tell what someone is worth, there are so many mule accounts and people who hardly change their avi.

Class status on Gaia is something I don't pay much attention to either. As long as I can have some good conversations with my fellow Gaians and have enough gold to get a few of the shinies that catch my eye, it doesn't matter to me where I fall on Gaia. I'm here to have fun, not fret about popularity or pixel wealth.

I'm not really fond of idea of dividing Gaians into classes based on their wealth or posting style. Not everyone speaks perfect English and is capable of producing a clever post, nor be cluttered with newest expensive items.
In my opinion, everyone should be treated equally as long as they're respecting the ToS and being nice to other users.

I have no idea where I fall. o3o/ I tend to not really care about that kind of thing. I just don't like people who b***h about not having items they want and then refuse to do anything about it.
