Why are some NPCs red named and are just well, NPCs, and some are set as Gaia Staff with brown names?

Is it for announcement purposes? Has any staff explained why they do that?


Anyway, do you find this odd?

Brown names - do more, like post announcements, send automated PMs, etc.

That's what I'm guessing. Although there isn't really a difference since I think they can all do the same things.

I'd like to think green is reserved for moderators though, because otherwise I'd just end up utterly confused....
I never realized that there are two different colours for NPCs until I received the PMs from the ones I sent Valentines to. After stumbling into this thread, I'm just indescribably curious!

GCD forum moderators <-- at the bottom is a description of the colour designations. So putting it all together, NPCs in general are both part of their own category and of the 'artists' category? I'm unsure what to make of this.

I don't think I honestly ever noticed the color changes, I shall now go look for myself.... Oh interesting... I see red ones in forums and the ones that PM'd me their valentine's cards. Although Rina's old PM's (i haven't deleted hers...) is brown. Wonder if Rina's will be red if I send her a valentine? Oh nope, hers is still brown. Hmm... this is curious indeed.

I wondered this too. I thought it had to do with if they PM, accept friend requests, etc., but I really don't know.
