Hello and welcome aboard the GCD Airport, your one stop spot for all things aerial! I'm your captain for the day and I'm glad you have chosen to dock your airship on our fabulous port today.

The idea of an airship port for all the GCDers to enjoy originally came from Ungoliath. The original port was first here, then relocated here. But unfortunately it was shut down by Ungoliath who didn't have enough time to keep it running. But the last two threads were filled with so much win that the regulars could not see it end. So they built a new brand new port and pulled me out of a top hat to be in charge. Or at least I am told.

The purpose of this thread is to discuss all things in the air, from Casimir tree's to those damn back wings we're still waiting for. But we'll be sticking mostly to the current, airship-filled plot.

☁ Airship & Casimir Tree Mechanics ☁

The main purpose of this thread, as you know, is to discuss everything on gaia that is in the sky. But this thread has another, equally important purpose.
And that is to educate all Gaians about the wonders of airship engineering. At the core of every airship is a Casimir tree, who's magic works in odd ways. So naturally, the GCD has a few ideas about it that they'd like to share!

Below is a basic theory that explains exactly how Casimir Tree's work with airships. This theory is based off of analysis from both the manga and theories from the past two threads. What is said may not be true, but it's the most accurate description of airship / casimir tree mechanics we have.

SO, I believe that the true, complex science of how the casimir tree's work differs for every tree. Each ship is endlessly unique. BUT...there still has to be a basic principle. I believe the tree's aid the ships in 2 ways; wood [float] and fruit [force].

The first one, wood, is the primary need for the ship. Making something out of the tree's wood, or placing the tree on something will keep it afloat [whether it's tiny ships or massive godly squids, both normally incapable of flight].

The seconds one, fruit, is optional but still essential. Floating isn't enough, there obviously must be some way to push the ship forward, an engine. At the moment, fruit is the most basic kind of fuel, because it has a great amount of energy and is found on the tree's used to make the ships float. But it is NOT the only type of fuel out there. Seeing as not all casimir tree's bear fruit, we have invented alternative fuels for your ships engine [For example, ginoversen's ship runs on holiday cheer].

This theory, being a basic unit to a larger idea, requires much more detail then it already has. Have something to add? Talk about it in the thread!

☁ Untimely Reunion: Featured Airships ☁

Exactly five months after Frontier Skies was released, we finally received the manga update that concluded the event. At first glance, the story went out with a whimper, we saved the squid god and learned that it was the god of spoilage. What is there to be excited about?

Thankfully, all our waiting was not in vain, for it seems that some of the airship designs submitted to this thread were FEATURED IN THE MANGA!

Porta Denia (Law Port)

The town of Porta Denia [duh-NEE-yuh] is located on, in, around, and under the floating casimir tree island of Denia. Denia, named for the casimir mother tree, can normally be found floating high above the old aqueducts and Gold Beach. Because of its unique properties, the island of Denia has been spotted in several different locations throughout Gaia. Speculation has stated that the island itself was once a water based island located several miles off the coast of what is now known as Isle de Gambino. Researchers have theorized that the mother tree Denia grew large enough to pull the island into the air where it now resides as a floating air cargo center and port town for airships, their passengers, and crew.

Roads End (Lawless Port)

In the darkness of the skies there is a point when every ship cross, a Tortuga of the Gaian World. The most brave and dangerous captain, pirates and adventurers meet here to share a drink, information, fights and quests. Sometimes even their live and dangerous magics. This port is not for cowards, so beware where you step because everything will surprise you.
