Nah, I think these hair items are right where they should be, in a rig.
The gold shop has pretty basic hair with lots of different colours and these wigs are special and should be in a rig. Not that gold shop hair is bad, theres lots of great realistic hair in there and it would be nice for it to be updated more. But the Bambi hair is very very similar to the Maisy Locks and obviously people loved that hair and paid the $50 for it (I think it was 50? I can't remember exactly).
Bambi hair is also very close to the Flat Line hair (they use the same hair line), and that item is obviously very rare. I'm sure the prices will go down and be pretty reasonable for 5 different colours in some lovely styles.
I do think gaia cut some corners because Madeline hair is slightly changed version of Wandering Maestro hair
