Plus the phrase "the object of my _________" isn't objectifying in and of itself emotion_facepalm it's a really common phrase that can be used where object is taken to mean literal object/centre/focus etc.
When I saw the title I was all like rolleyes and then I realized what you meant. I totally agree with you. It's a sentient being, it shouldn't be called an "object" of anything.
