And I think it might be because of the popularity of KiKi and CoCo, but I'm not too sure.

However, there is one dog that's super cute, imo. Chimi the Chihuahua. She's adorable. emotion_kirakira
Plus she was a gift from my friend so that makes her extra special.

I think it's a combination of two things:

1. Cats are a popular house pet and are adorable when tiny. So are dogs, but cats have an elegance and sleekness that dogs don't. So I can see their appeal.

2. Lol, the internet.

You don't see nearly as many hilarious elephant pictures on the 'net. It's mostly funny cat stuff. So there's a reinforced idea of cats as the omglolbestevar! and... well... when people are willing to pay through the nose for cats, Gaia will keep making cats.

I'd rather have a dog. A large dog. A Great Dane or a Caucasian Ovcharka. Yeeeaaaaah.

When it comes to dogs, however, there are so many variations that each one would probably target a smaller portion of the Gaian populace.

Dog people are weird even more so than cat people. Things get crazy when you start talking about breeds and the pros&cons of each. I myself don't care for larger dogs or wolves. So I own Cavalier King Charles and Mr. Butterscotch and all the other little ones but I doubt I will be questing for a black wolf any time soon.

Imagine as well if Gaia made a breed of dog that was banned in many countries? There would be a lot of drama. I don't think any cat breeds are banned anywhere.

I seem to recall there being a petition to have pitbulls or some other bully breeds for companions. But I have a feeling Gaia wouldn't touch that one unless it was for another mini Charity RIG like the Best Friends Forever.

Banned cat breeds? I think there is one or two. Weird wild cat crosses but they are rare. Not like dogs. sad

Me, myself, I'm a dog person. IRL, I can't stand cats (even as kittens). Big cats I'm okay with, but house cats... gonk

However, I do like some of the cute RIG cats that Gaia puts out... not that I'll ever own one, but they are cute, most of the time.

We need more dog RIG pets... actual dogs, not any of this 'wolf' or 'fox' crap. And not any of the little dogs, either. We need a big, fluffy Newfoundland. Or a bloodhound. (bloodhounds are my favorite dogs :B) And one of the black and tan breeds- I don't care which, as long as it's big and has those adorable little tan eyebrows. o:

I don't think Gaia as really made any dogs that are exceptionally cute! Even Keely the Creameranian has a silly face. I think the pup from Mlle Butterfly is pretty cute though.

Dédé the Husky... looks like a googley-eyed chihuahua >.>

I was so disappointed in Dédé I still quested for him because I myself have and love my Sibe, but the eyes kill me. Also 1 green and 1 blue eye, though it does happen is super rare.
