Honestly, looks great. I was really worried - we've never not had an evolution since they released EIs so I'm glad we got one... heart And I love it. It's already looking good - anything that starts out with a background and cats has my approval! XD

It's a REI. They always mention them as EIs in the announcements.

I'm pretty sure REI. They aren't really doing EI any more as much - it's all REI though what the real difference is, is kinda debatable. I would define anything that doesn't do weekly evolutions as EI and those that do weekly evolutions REI at this point... So this is definitely the REI (because we've got nothing else evolving on a weekly basis at this time). Zodiacle would be EI - but it's slow.

Definitely looking forward to the evolutions of this REI, especially the Paw version. It looks like they're going for a Duality Theme, and based on the Icon there's a Black Cat and a White Cat. I hope the Paw Version is the Black Cat, because it could have a new type of Black Cat fur in an Evo or something! And if my suspicions about the Announcement images are correct, methinks the Paw one will be the Black Cat, and the Human one will be the White Cat.

If it includes both male and female poses (an equal balance of the two) or just plain neutral with off black and off white color scheme, my body is ready.
I'm iffy on the topics of cats, but as long as there's not a heavy cat influence then it's all good.
