Welcome to Gaia! ::

(This has happened every time I post in the exchange and a couple other times besides)

So you've just made your thread and you are waiting for an offer in the exchange.
Then suddenly someone posts, but not with an offer or anything productive as expected. Their message is generally something like 'Bump/Good Luck, feel free to tip or donate'.
My take: annoying, updated begging, but am I wrong? Is this just someone being nice?

sorry for the lack of pizazz, i'm not too creative now

Cutlery:
What's your take?
Can this be called begging?

I would take it as a bump and nothing more. And exchange threads do need to be bumped, right?

It's a bit more passive, since they're not directly asking. I do find it a bit unseemly to state you're willingly accepting donations from people who haven't stated that they're giving stuff away, but then they're trying to help.

It can be called begging, though. But I'd just take the free bump, as others have said. That's the primary reason they're bumping, right?

Well, I look at it as "Here, let me help you...and good luck on your sale. If you feel like it, I would appreciate some money because I am questing/wish to purchase something and a little bit of gold can help me"

I was thinking about the same thing but just decided to accept it as a bump. I do find it weird that members have an auto-format about their quest/accepting donations then will have it AGAIN in their signature. I mean, in my opinion, I'd tone down the advertising because it would turn me - a potential donator - off totally; if it works for them though then whatever.

I do not beg. I demand.

GIVE ME YOUR HAT!
I don't see how that is begging.
I normally post good luck to them to bump their thread up. dramallama
But I don't see much people saying feel free to tip/donate. Guess that's just me.

Watch this video, OP.
It'll teach you everything you need to know about the exchange, exchangers in general, and their crazy, crazy ways.

I'd probably just tip them for the free bump, or just ignore it, or USE their bump to bump the thread, like a "thanks" reply. xd

I like how some people put "lowballs are free bumps" in their thread OP, it's so spicy. So spunky. Whatever that word is that i'm trying to remember. Cheeky? uh...saucy? sassy?

I ate them, with salad and a cookie.

But why complain about thread bumps in the exchange, I mean, it means you don't have to. 3nodding

If their post is asking for gold or donations, it's pretty much begging/spamming in my eyes. I don't care if what forum I'm posting in.User Image
If it's in their sig or post style that's one thing, but if they specifically bump and ask for things in the bump... seems like begging to me, even if it's a tad less blatant than some begging.

I never thought of it that way, mostly because the people I've seen bumping in the exchange (at least in my threads) always seem to have more gold/expensive items than I do. I see it as a friendly gesture of someone who may have been window shopping.
When I see begging in post formats and sigs I find it distasteful but I never take it as directly begging unless they single me out.

I take it as a bump. There is no obligation to tip them/help them/etc.

Since I don't make many boards and the only time I do is in Exchange, I don't
really pay much attention to these or even get bumpers on my boards. XD
It's much different than getting a PM saying that they want X on your avatar. Or
outright begging. Now that's annoying as hell.

You usually see the same people doing it.

Honestly, it might be begging, but honestly, it's a good free service. If you tip the bumpers, they'll bump your stuff more. And they don't mean like '10K' or something, they mean like, 25 gold from the tip button.

Be nice to the bumpers.
