I always tried to keep my post styles small. One picture at most. I like it when they're smaller than the length of my post (in text). Back in the day, when I was getting really into it, I would have 2 different post styles. One for "long posts" and one for "short posts".
Nowadays, if I have a short post, I just don't use any post style at all. Laziness has to do with it. Readability and just the way it looks has to do with it. Back when the GCD was big on post styles, it did get quite obnoxious and I can see how the negativity spread.
Overall though, unless your post style is text (which are the type of post style I hate the most, tbh), it's only beneficial to have one if you have a permanent avatar or character. With someone who changes avatars frequently, the post style doesn't match the avatar. And then it looks weird, to me.
The ones I would try to do were mostly text. xd
But I think they just made my posts look more boring. haha
I would just ignore people that had really obnoxious posts. Like, if I had to put effort into figuring it out then I would just move on to another person's post. I know other people did the same so maybe the people that did that got tired of being ignored. haha
I tried using this PS before but keeping that thing on copy was a drag. i don't like using better gaia either.
i prefer to just use a plain box.
personally i like people with post styles with images in them because there's something to look at...and if someone's PS has small bright text i might not read it because it's just too much trouble highlighting.
maybe people have cut down on PS because we're all....growing...older? burning_eyes
I don't know why not many people use them. I don't have
better gaia or whatever the ******** that is. I just copy and paste
from the last post I made and it stays in my copy/paste board
thingy since I never really copy and paste other things. And if
I do, I just go back to my last post and copy it over again. XD
I've used the same kind of style for a long time. For those who
hate them, ******** block the images then and deal with
it. My sig is for one thing and I used to make lots of graphics and
banners years ago. They look moronic in my sig. I am used to
them bordering or in my actual post, so if you don't like it. Go ahead
and block the images or just ignore it. lmao, not like my images
are blinking and take up 489384938942 bandwidth.
But I'm glad lots of Gaians don't use them for that reason. Because
I know the taste level of other people is pretty lackluster and I can
already imagine if everyone did use a post style to pretty up their
posts. I can see a ton of blinking shits like in the aquarium boards.
Never bothered making a post style, but I like to look at other users post styles. I think it makes those users stand out. Sometimes I recognize someone by their post style before I recognize their name or avatar. Like other's have said the only time I really find them a bother is when they are to big, cluttered, and obnoxiously colored. Also some that have a lot of text make it hard to figure out where the post style ends and the actual post begins.
I've always been very picky with how my posts look.
Of course, back in the day it was very different. With
poorly drawn avi art and a very minimal color selection.
Regardless of my posting style, I'm not sure why it
started getting less popular. Perhaps it was with
both an influx of newer people joining who don't have
the patience to format and stuck with it over the years
and the old posters joining the trend?
I'm not sure. But it's safe to say you won't see a post
of mine without some minimal formatting at least.
