Either way, "Bub" is not a Japanese accent. It is more of a Southern U.S. accent, if I'm correct.

Yeah, he's completely right. Check him out. He has fishing lures coming out of his gloves where Wolverine's claws would be, and his name is Logan. He's an old version of Wolverine, which I guess could be used to try to place the world of Gaia in a timeline in relation to our own day. I'm gonna look into that.

But yeah, his way of speaking and look are based on Wolverine.
