GCD: Full of know-it-alls.

Man, I rant to my boyfriend about RIGs (and even explained how Gaia tried to change it to "CI", but... well, the GCD and pretty much elsewhere have stuck with "RIG" anyway) and he's just like, " *nods* Okay." And my friends warn me of entering casinos when I'm of gambling age. OwO ...I just like talking about the things I love, even if they're somewhat crappy and neglected by its developers (zOMG).

I've found people on here that I know on Xbox, that's kinda the same.

I wear a Coco plushie on my messenger bag, I secretly hope one day someone will say something but being a 28 year old man, they probably would think I was a creeper representing Gaia openly.

The only people I met who went on Gaia were people I was friends with in high school. That was cool, it actually made me participate in Gaia more. Recently a few of my friends told me their friends played Gaia or they were aware of it and were totally accepting of it...it felt really cool! It's nice when people accept Gaia but I don't know anyone IRL that plays anymore.
Edit: Also recently, one of my 'friends' (aka guy who insists on sitting next to me in class...) saw that Gaia was my most visited site on Google Chrome and said "Ewww Gaia?....Boxy-chan goes on Gaia...." and I said "Don't judge me." And he said "I can't NOT judge you."
He's an a*****e, though, so whatever.

It would be neat, but where I live hardly anyone knows what gaia is, let alone have an account. So chances of that happening to me are preetty slim.

Funny thing...a few years back, had a guy start at my work, and turned out we had similar tastes in music, so we started hanging out.

One day, I'm picking up a Gaia card as a gift for Liri, and he sees it. And pipes up with "My sister goes on there..."

So I start talking to HER...and not long after, he starts coming on Gaia, after having an account since 2003.

So there was that.
Ha, funny story that. 8D

I've run into a few people who use Gaia at my college when they've seen me drawing avatars, but its been a while since anyone has recognized any avatar style art. But I'll freely talk about it if the subject/similar comes up. It seems that lately not a lot of people have heard or will admit to being on it though.

I know I used to get my friends back when I was in high school onto it, by talking about it all the time. XD I still use Gaia to stay in contact with one of them too, actually.

Heroic Mage

Yeah, it happened to me once in college.

I went to an art school, it was bound to happen.

Class hadn't started yet, and I guess she saw me dressing up my avatar.

She started begging, less than 10 minutes into our conversation.

Years ago when I attended college I was on Gaia checking in, that's when HE approached.
A fellow student wearing a Naurto headband (this was when that anime was at its most popular) and he carried with him the most foulest stench of BO. He sat down and went OH YOU GO ON GAIA TOO?! As loud as possible. Being nice and that our class was pretty much done for the day I replied yes and we went into talking about the site. I was actually happy to meet someone who goes on Gaia for the first time, however that happiness went away soon after.

He was curious to see my inventory and I had no issue showing him. BIG MISTAKE. Not even 10 min's after we started talking he asked if he could have some of my items and I'm talking about my most expensive stuff. I decline but he would not give up. Sob story how he lost his account three times and that he really wanted to make his dream avatar, which was mostly all the 03 items if I remember correctly.

So yeah I met a real life 'noob'. Looking at his post just proved it even more. BUMPS and single emote replies in the wrong forums. Plus more begging and yes he even begged me a few times on the site. Still I think his personal stench was by far the most foul thing about the experience. All I could think off was he was giving geeks like me a bad name.

I wish my first encounter went with someone with a little more class but sadly no.
Thankfully I did met with other Gaians at a Gaia meet up in Dallas several years ago *DJ HELLSING y u no rent movie theater againz!?!* and that meet I did see better classed Gaians.

Though my first meet will forever haunt me. User Image

No one will every convince me you told a lie.

If someone asked me I'd be like "Yea! You too? :D" then exchange usernames. I don't hide Gaia. It's a hobby, and if people don't like it.. well they don't need to worry about it. c:

If you had come up to me and started talking very intelligently about Gaia, I would have been very impressed. I have no problem with TMI. biggrin

Ultimately, my high school IRL friends are what got me into Gaia, and ultimately my ex-girlfriend convinced me to stick around even when I got bored with it. I found my own way to have fun on the site over time. When I get bored of checking/lurking/being on sites I usually frequent, I venture back to Gaia and usually hang around anywhere from a couple of weeks to several months until I get bored again. So my traffic fluctuates back and forth depending on my boredom circumstances. lol

My IRL high school friends aren't really around anymore. For a while, one of my friends would randomly come on and off to chat with people, but I'm pretty sure she doesn't anymore. One of my friends still does to do some nice art freebs.

A couple of people I met in college used to get on Gaia but no longer do - I know at least one of my friend's accounts was banned.

One friend I knew from middle school got together with me for the first time in ten years and during all our talking, Gaia came up and she mentioned her account got banned too. I have such crazy friends, I guess.

Otherwise, throughout my time in college, I've been in lectures long enough to glance around at the laptops around me and see some of them with Gaia on their screens. I've never approached them about it, though. I'm sure others have seen me as well - I usually don't carry my laptop with me and I usually go to the libraries or computer labs around campus to kill time and sometimes that results in me getting on Gaia for a bit. But no one has come up to me, either.

I always think, "It's just a matter of time," but who can say for certain?

Haha, I remember someone wore their Gaia undies on the OUTSIDE of their jeans (sorry if that was you u///u;) That was alot of fun. There was a nice kid that was behind us and he was so excited to meet other Gaians. Where did you sit? My group was towards the bottom on the right side. owo
