Welcome to Gaia! ::

Idle Blood's Widow

Dedicated Loiterer

If I may be so dramatic for a second, I feel like my Gaian life is becoming too hard to bare. Ever since the withdrawal of zOMG it seems like the only thing I come back for, is the Avatar e .e. I really miss having that game around. You could always learn a lot by a person by working with them in a crew. I think that for me, the bonds I made in Dead Man's Shadow were the strongest I've ever had in my entire registered time as a Gaian...

Pardon the sentimentalism, I just thought that now that I have almost nothing left to do but start a thread and announce my opinion on things. So does anyone else miss this key component of "get-to-knowing" with other members that wasn't Stand/Sit porn?

Werewolf

I personally think it's easier to get to know someone by what they post and how they interact in forums than by than how they behave in an MMO. I never played zOMG or really used the Towns feature; real-time online interaction (including chats) was never my thing.

I guess I'm at my best when people rely on me as a part of a team verses the opinions I have. I'll admit though, a lot can be said from a simple post too. How a person articulates themselves can make or break potential bonds n.n. But zOMG...That was my favorite part of Gaia though. Even if it was "cheesy" or whatever. >w< I miss it, if it isn't obvious enough >w<.

Well...

- Join a guild.
- Draw free art for people.
- Discuss manga updates.
- Rate avatars.
- Quest for items.
- Make a fan thread. Be silly.
- Make the Top 25 at a fishing spot. (Then try for the top 10.)
- Follow a guide and get to Level 10 in alchemy.
- Chat about what you like/dislike in new RIG's/CI's here in the GCD.
- Play lots and lots of switch 'em.
- Jigsaw puzzles are fun, too.

IDK I never came to Gaia for zOMG so it's absence isn't a horrible thing for me. I pay for MMO's to play MMO's. I come to Gaia for the cute avatars and the fun discussions.

Yeah, that's all it's become for me.

The Avatar....Joined a guild and things are stale. Seeking other threads of entertainment so here I am in the forums o.~

Don't get me wrong, I play pinball and venture into the arena's and such but lately things just lack a sort of "adventuring" aspect...

Man, i've had some of the best times in the flash spaces with folks.
It's definitely great, and very different in regards to getting to know people as opposed to forums.
But different doesn't mean better or worse. Just different.
Getting familiar with people on a forum can be hard.
For a bit of an experience - I recently visited the CB.
It was a real head trip. I didn't know anybody and nobody knew me, and I just kept getting ignored. Very unwelcoming experience, so I can see why there are so many lurkers and how hard it is to come out of that.
My suggestion though, is to confront people. Reply to things you see other people saying and doing. That's the funnest way to get to know a community/forum. Just going about your business, splurting out your opinion on things and leaving hoping to get noticed will get you nowhere fast.

But for you, OP, you seem to lean toward having a point. Something to do specifically. Just shootin' the breeze doesn't seem to fit with you (let me know if i'm wrong) so i'd suggest RPing. Ease in by doing some 1x1 stuff. Or if you've got the funds, do a silly stupid contest in the CB or somewhere.

I never did play much zOMG! I was always more of a forum gal, but maybe that's because the flash spaces and games kind of pale in comparison to the depth and involvement of the MMOs that I actually play. I used to play around in Towns 1 when it first came out and I used to play some blackjack or a jigsaw every now and then, but it's been a long, long time since I went into any of the flash spaces for anything other than a freebie.

OG GO

zOMG was a fun hangout and, if you got bored of the people, you could actually play the damn game

now you can be ignored in forums and trolled in towns, window shop, play outdated games, join guilds that move as fast as a drunk snail.. so much to do rofl

Undead Enchantress

I have to admit playing zOMG were my fondest times on Gaia especially doing stuff earlier than most since I started quite early. I admit I didn't too much when Deadman's Shadow came out since I couldn't really afford those bloodstones things and I lost interest by the time they opened it for everyone else. I do miss the banter both on the z!F forums and in the game itself. I noticed all sorts of personalities like there would be people who are annoying in the forums, almost trollish, but were upstanding fellows in the crew.
Now I've lost my home forum and game, I'm just lurching around this and that forum trying to find a juicy brrraiiiinnn or two.

Trash Vampire

Meh. I was never into any flash space, really. Forums are all I've known. Nothing changes...

That's how I got to know most of my friends here. I enjoyed that team dynamic and learning how people would react under "stress" when you're about to be mobbed with animated, lol.

I miss the hell out of it, too.

Celestial Shapeshifter

Zomg offered a lot of bonding with people that's not unlike the bonds I had on WoW or other mmo's. In fact my relationship with forums is eh at best. I just use it as a soundboard once in a while, but in Zomg I actually had full on convos with the people I played with.

I never cared for the group aspect of Zomg, but I sure do miss the heck out of it. It was my standby tool to kill boredom, now I just meander around here. I enjoy the items and I sort of live from event to event waiting.

Pretty much the same. During event times, I'm more active on here & try to participate in the event forums a bit. But once it's done, I'm back to mainly lurking. I'll check out new items, hope older ones have reasons to drop in price, mess with my invo & avi, but otherwise just kinda chill.

I met my dearest friend in forums actually, and I wouldn't know him otherwise.

I played zOMG, but not often, and when I did I never really talked to anyone, I just did my own thing since I never made it through the basics. I don't really notice that zOMG is gone...

For meeting new people and actually talking I find out so much through forums, and honestly fishing but that's not for everyone I suppose. Guilds are nice, but I've never actually found one to stick with since I'm a picky person. It's different for everyone I guess, whatever you enjoy most is normally where you make the most friends since it's common ground, so maybe you just need something that clicks?
