Well, at 1st I'd try to get the person change the name so we could come to a decent comprimise, and if they didn't well I'd still do it.

I'd give the items to my mule and then change my name back. What could that person do to me? So what if they are wealthy? It's not like they could report me for anything, seeing as they offered it to me regardless. I'd save the PM's, trade actions for proof.

but then I thought "...ok, actually, no way."

why? because it's very rare that I actually am able to have my name(maya's my real name) as my username on a website or forum, and the fact I was able to get it here made me super happy when I first registered, and I still am happy about having it now.

so yep...in theory it'd be awesome, but i love having my first name on here too much to get rid of it ever, even if changing it meant having every item on gaia I ever dreamt of whee

Let's walk through the logic of my mind here. I learn that not all faces are true no matter how realistic it may seem. That being said, I must question why would an honest person would want me to change my name to something I detess? Do they know me? Maybe not, for there are millions out there. Because they don't know me, it's not an personal grudge. But make another to do something that's normally against the others wish unless under certain conditions (for the weak minded, usually money & material things) is an form of control and/or a sense of uncaring of what another being wants.
But, if they have this attitude, then why be so willing to make the deal and pay in full? Because they will get the better deal of this trade (since they had offered it in the first place). So, they're doing it on my own expense to do what they please for whatever cost. Why? Maybe a few 'good' reasons: (1) Cruelity: They're so wealthy that they could do whatever they please and they know that one of the many tortures of gaians is to be force to do something to their account (that's permanent) that's against their wishes. Because of their such extreme wealth, they could care less of what they pay, so long it's done. And they know that the best way it could be done is through temptation. (2) Amusement: They wish to see if an random gaian will be so willing to anything to get their wish, even if it means to change their name. They're honest enough to do their part and be willing to laugh their heads off when they actually see it, mostly in disbelieve that it had actually happened. (3) A Bet: They're given a bet (for or against) that an random gaian would change their name to get their greatest wish. This person is wealthy enough to pull it off and thus must pose the question and go through the process with the random gaian.

For each one I'll relpy no. (1)No, I shall not be used. Leave me be. (2) No, find someone else to play with. (3)No, because this name is special to me and is against my view/persona of my character to have it changed to that name.
