They lend movement and emotion (via body language) to an avatar.

All I see are legs that wouldn't hold up the body at all on your avatar...

Also, Ballet dancers have quite large muscles...

Gaia's gravitational pull is weaker than Earth's. Duh.

Big the looks of the men, it's more dense....

People have different perceptions on what they believe looks good. A lot of it is influenced by stuff they're used to seeing, unfortunately a lot of cartoon/comic art now feature disproportional slender waists and long legs. People are trying to recreate that look on Gaia.
I like many leg mods because the male Gaian avatars look like fat babies. Anatomically many of the leg mods make more sense with the body than the huge tree trunk legs. That's not to say that some leg mods are done badly and look pretty terrible, but the ones that are done right are awesome and add flavor to an avi.

I hate buying shoes.
Despite the fact that they often look like a giant pair of knitting-needles in stockings, I actually think they're really fun. They can really make a scene-y avatar come together.

I only like a few leg mods, and that's because they give my avatar straight legs, instead of the oddly-shaped, curvy legs that the male bases have.

Also, how do you define a leg mod? Because the boots my avatar is wearing right now alters the shape of its feet quite severely. Are we talking about full-on lower body mods only, or are weird shoes also brought into discussion (like all the super tiny feet and stuff, which I really can't stand)?

Ah, I see! Yeah, most leg mods like that end up looking really odd, like the legs can't support the avatar's weight. XD
I do like a couple though, mostly for the sort of cartoonish effect they can be used for (especially when it comes to cosplay avatars), like the Yakisoba Shift. That's.. probably the only full-on leg mod that I like, actually!
I've tried using other leg mods but they don't look right at all.

Eh, I actually don't like that one... looks weird to me...

i neither like or dislike them
its just their so hard to use on males
so i dont usually use them
though they do 'fix' female legs from what ive heard
it really depends on how you use them
mods are an intersting thing on gaia
i find it really hard to use them
since it unequips so many things
but... people can actually really use them in a really cool way!

I originally didn't like leg mods because it felt like it wasn't useful to my style of avatar.. until I figured out how to manipulate them to give my character a bit more 'flavor'.

What I mean by it is that, I can give my avatar a bit more character in the way it's standing. Like how real people are when they stand, they arn't just standing with a lack of movement unless they're really ridged or something. Sure I still really like how the avatars are standing, but sometimes it's a breath of fresh air to see a leg mod giving a character a different look and personality.

Sure many of them look horrid (those ones with the square crotches I think are the worse offenders of wtf is that crap) but the good ones and used skillfully they can be done very well.
Well! My legs are FABULOUS!~
I agree some of them look a little odd. But I really like some of the! I don't have any though. sad

The only leg mod I like is the one that comes with the Happy Capsule.
