That's the panel I noticed how he got really hot. I mean, Edmund was a hot old dude but now he's like 20 years younger and hotter. How old is he suppose to be anyway? I always figured he'd be around 40 or so.

To be honest, I really just don't like Reapersun's drawing style. Also, I hate Gino's haircut. With a passion. So even when Reaper isn't the one drawing the manga, I still don't like the way Gino looks.

I think if the manga updated more regularly it would have a section. But I haven't even seen a mashup thread for this one... I'm sad now. I miss the old days when every new manga installation would immediately get a mashup thread and bunches of bad 5 dollar footlong jokes.

I'm pretty fond of Reapersun's art, so I don't mind the change. Not entirely sure it's her, though. Either way, the art change, to me, is pretty welcome. It's developed a more realistic, gritty edge that really brings out the personalities of the characters. (Don't get me started on men who act like kids. I work with a bunch of ex-military guys and sometimes it's like working with kindergarteners!)

... I could dig a more ethereal Meili. Though I think Lanzer said Meili was gone for good....

meh i just want a new subforum because all the NPC/story-related threads get pushed off the first page and thus forgotten by other Gaia happenings. crying man.

there is a mashup thread though biggrin not official or anything but people post in it. it might be on the first page if you use the search term "shadows". it piddles by...

if you look up reaper's tumbler she converts gino's faces (from the first page of the manga) into John's from sherlock, so a lot of people assume it's her artwork on the current installment. i like how saka draws things because it's so detailed, but yeah the current art seems to do more with expressing something more realistic/gritty...probably because things are less pretty and life is ugly and raw crying at least, for the panels where you can see a lot of effort went into the drawings. not the cartoony doodlish ones.

When I first saw Gino I was like "This must be what Johnny looked like when he was young and adventuring."

I am really excited to see Gino grow up. Before Gino always seemed like a secondary character who wouldn't be much more than a third wheel in a love triangle, or the person to throw a fancy ball in Gaia. And that was kinda annoying to see him live in such a carefree, mooch off my dads fortune, sorta way.
That was why I was really excited when this whole story arc started, because I figured this would be a chance for Gino to grow and develop as a character. And watching the way he is maturing has not at all been a let down. He is actually moving towards being one of the larger players in Gaia's world, like Edmund and Logan. It is sort of like watching the making of Gambino, from riches to rags to ?riches?.

well, the way she draws noses is more...idk...americanized than anime-ish. there is more detail and character in the facial angles for how she draws manga, than in the previous chapters. i can see how people would prefer the more typical way of drawing manga facial anatomy than reaper's way.

he sort of reminds me of the overseer though. those two are too close in character design...

Totally get you there. Yeah, RIGs are fun, etc. but there's way more to Gaia than throwing money at it and I wish people would remember that. The site wouldn't be what it is without the characters behind it.

They had a discussion today about killing rats in boot camp and spiders/scorpions in Iraq. It was both hilarious and highly disturbing. mrgreen

Actually, I feel like her faces look strangely flat. And I guess to each their own on the hair. ;P He does look too similar to Overseer, though.

yes, you said it very well. especially that part about watching a character become something bigger.

sort of makes me want to know what edmund used to do during his young adulthood years. hopefully not loitering around Barton Town like all the other Gaia NPCs.

yeah..yeah yeah that is one real big annoyance with Gaia's NPCs. they don't really do anything except serve functions (e.g. Moira...runs X shop; Meredith does banking stuff; Mirari and Barrett do aquarium stuff)...I'm realllllllly really glad characters like Gino don't serve as one of those function-based NPCs.

lol sounds pretty interesting though. killing vermin...when i was a kid i killed a tree rat with a shovel. it's brain got exposed and everything. had to do it though, they were vermin. it's much more horrifying actively killing rats than using traps though. oh well.

I did notice Gino's change in face, but with how much Sherlock art Reaper has been drawing, I just can't unsee her John in Gino and Overseer's face.

I prefer youthful Gino, but eh. If this sticks, that's fine. I can't help but stare that some panels look like the heads are eggs with faces, though.
