Getting Stalked on Gaia - Now with Extra Drama

Yep. I have.
This happened years ago now, but it was a bit creepy.

This was before quote notifications, so I went back to a thread I'd previously posted in to check for replies. About 2 pages after my own response, I saw an avatar identical to my own, with a reply to the thread that looked very familiar; it was word for word repeating what I'd said.
She'd not quoted me, just copy-pasted what I'd posted myself.

So I checked her post history.
Every single one of her posts had been her re-posting my responses in threads I'd been in, usually a couple of pages later. It had been going on for weeks. eek



I mailed her about it, to ask her why she was doing it. She ignored me, but continued to copy my posts.
So I asked in Q&A to see if I could report her for harassment. People that saw that thread started leaving rude comments on her profile, talking about how creepy she was being etc. (which I didn't ask anyone to do, and would have rathered they didn't) and presumably they PMd her, too.
Eventually she sent me a PM just saying "I didn't do anything wrong, I just admired you. I think one day you'll realise that." Then never posted again.

I do sometimes check people's recent posts if they're a friend and I haven't spoken to them in a while just to make sure that they still log on but I contact them again! xd

Other than the situation I had mentioned in the previous thread, I will say that rarely I do post stalk people. Usually because I was looking for a very specific post of theirs for whatever reason, or there was drama involving them I might've happened across at the time, that I have interest in- drama does make for a good read at times.

But that hasn't happened in some time, I just don't really care that much about what other people do really.

Heheh, I rather enjoy watching e-drama go on on Gaia. xD I sometimes comment search through people's profiles if I've noticed the last couple of comments were drama filled.

Admittedly, I'll post stalk people to see if they get into more drama in the forums. As stated in my OP, I'm nosy like that. xP

Once had a guy follow me all over Gaia AND to a few other sites when I was a teenager. I flamed him up one side and down the other, days of nasty verbal abuse until he left me alone.

Had another case back then when I was running poll-based avatar contests (Oh, avi contests of 2006!) and one chick cheated. I gave her the prize money for winning but didn't list her in my winner circle, then ran the contest again without her to give the others a legitimate chance and to pay for their prize out of my own pocket. Well, she whined to her guild because I thought she had cheated, so they came and spammed the hell out of my thread for about 20-30 pages about how she should win. Reported all of them for harrassment, blocked them, and I think a mod came and deleted their posts.

A long while ago I was being stalked by two people.

It started as this one person quoting me all the time, didn't matter what forum, just to question/comment on everything I had to say. At first I figured it was just a coincidence, and ignored it. After a while I stopped responding to them because it was getting downright creepy. He/She got really mad and started to harass me, PM me, and my mules.

Then this person got their friend involved and it basically evolved into a train wreck. Constant PM's blocking, fighting etc. I would stop posting and they would eventually back off but as soon as I logged in again I would get barraged with crap from their mules.

So I eventually stopped posting on Gaia for a couple months, made a new account and lurked for a bit. After a long while I changed my main accounts name and stuck to occasional posting a lurking.

Recently I got into a bit of trouble with someone and my old account, had a heart attack thinking it was the same person. Thank God it wasn't, but still made me nervous.

Damn internet people, always being creepy.

heart People can be immature when it comes to stalking others on different sites. I was stalked before, but it's not the first time since I've been stalked by this KKK troll-wannabe from YouTube. My first one was my ex-boyfriend. <_<' heart

I'ver had a few stalkers (Some of them are lovely) had one or two unpleasant ones who I've had no choice but to ignore. (Avatar copy catting, going through my posts to find the art shops I frequent to get similiar art etc.

Lucky for me my friends here on Gaia are loyal to me as I am to them and backed me up.

I occasionaly get a quote saying something like "Sorry just saying I love you post stye/avatar, I stalk you sometimes xd " Which is fine by me as a compliment is a compliment.

Lucky I have'nt had any creeps yet though...

I was collecting paper, flowers, bugs, and other trash when someone entered the town I was in. I paid him no mind until he started up a chat.

Here's the thing, when I'm out collecting, I make sure to do it out in the boonies, there's no one around for ten screens, not towns, in any direction.

I told him I wasn't interested in being his friend or doing a one-on-one RP (eww). This was before the Ignore User feature, so I just left. He followed. I kept going. On the third screen, I waited and he showed on the edge of the town and he just stood there, watching.

Yeah. I quit out, checked my account settings, and didn't go back to Towns for a few days.

I know, thank god it stopped. I've met people were crap like that goes on for years. Makes you wonder what wrong with some people lol

Thankfully, that's the only brush with stalking (that I'm aware of) that I've had. And it certainly isn't as bad as some of the other testimonials here.
