I would have to say that this is an amazing idea, and I would so totally buy items that would help charity!

Anyway, I would have to say Health and Diseases, especially things like cancer. It runs in my family and it has killed most of my grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins. I know that it will also effect me and my siblings and I would love to find a way for cancer to just be stopped. =3

My vote went to Hunger and Poverty. 3nodding

Though, there are quite a few up there that I would probably group together.
I don't know if this was going to be a one time thing, but have you thought of doing the top three voted charities at different points throughout the year?
I'm not sure why everyone voted Animals, when there are so many other problems in our world, but I could have an idea why.

It just seems like, to me, to pick between Cancer and poverty and all that stuff would be like leaving one behind, when I think they are all equally important. I voted poverty/hunger personally.

However, there's one aspect to animals that I think is extremely important to animal research and protection, since the Animal category seems to be winning by a landslide anyway.

Honeybees.

Honeybess are essential to producing produce for our whole planet.
Without them, we would all have to self pollinate like the people in China have to.

Which is extremely difficult and requires a lot more man work than just having bees around.

But bees are being suffered by something called "Colony Collapse Disorder" where many bees are dying. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Colony_Collapse_Disorder

Again, bees are an essential part to food and crops around the world. Not only does it help the bees, but it helps humans as well.

Some companies like Burt's Bees and Häagen-Dazs have come up with some ways to support honey bees. And a big way is to buy from local providers of honey/fruit who are trying to research CCD.

So I'd want charity to go to helping the honeybees in animals if they are to win.

Edit: I'd buy a cute honey bee item in the cash shop if it were going to go to help Colony Collapse Disorder. And not like something like "A Bee Movie" with those bee suits. Blech. lol
This is a great thing to do :3 helping people is fun~!
Hunger and Poverty or Animals.

Like the one movie I watched in school about bees.

I think... maybe when the world isn't fighting over food and land and oil... we might be able to stop everything else from a sharp decline.

I wish.
Go for it, I'd be honored to be part of an online community that gives to the needy. Go for it.

I wonder why those people on Solia think Gaia is bad.
This sounds like a great idea. I know I don't have a lot of money to spare, but I'd certainly try to get an item if you put one out! As far as a specific charity goes, I vote for the Health & Disease (I'm involved in reproductive issues, so this is important to me). Good luck with getting this rolling!

Since animal charities are winning, I would have the artists pull out all those plushie arts they've been saving up!

I would DIE for a calico cat or bigger-than-Mochi dog.

I'm definitely up for it. I say bring it on. biggrin

My vote went for Environment, but there are a ton of things up there that I'd support. 3nodding

...At the beginning with you.
I would love to see something benefiting children, see as that is the target for this site.

Or, breast cancer.

My vote went to Health & Disease.
Because if I'm doomed to have cancer by heredity, I'd like Gaia supporting research on cures. ;o;

ANIMAL CAUSES ARE NOT WINNING.

You guys, think about it. Animal causes are clumped in one group, and have less than 25% of the vote. The problem is, the humanitarian causes are so divided into specifics, it looks like they're getting less of the vote. Votes for helping people are actually more than 60% of the vote. (The rest going to Environmental, which helps both groups.)

(I voted for a people cause. Animals are important, but secondary.)
