How can we stop it?
Honestly I don't think we can stop Gaia's Demise, by convincing the Ceo or anyone who has the power over Gaia to make Gaia better.

b***h b***h complain and moan

maybe if you would be happy for the things we have had
the efforts that were made and the things that are still being done in the spirit of gaia

you could be happy with it again

otherwise, i really do recommend you leave.

its too easy to complain i shouldnt have to tell you about that
your a regular of the biggest whiniest forum of them all and thats gcd

whats hard is seeing the forest for the trees

enjoying the plot we have had, the events we did have
being excited for the ones we will get

do you have any idea what it takes to throw something like that orphan event together "last minute?"

have you ever ran a large forum site, nevermind the largest LMAO

seriously this is hilarious

Yep, we're just part of the big contingent of bitchers and whiners - I think we've all had our moments where we wished they would just get over it, shut up and leave. Who wants their fun Gaia time spoiled with people who can't see past the negatives, eh?

Except it's not just us, and we're not bitching and whining because we hate Gaia and want to leave. We don't want to leave, we don't hate Gaia, and we don't even want that many changes. We just want to have our opinions respected because we genuinely believe Gaia would be better off if they listened. And that's why I am happy to post here and get sneered at by people like you, because I think there is an important point to be made. It would not be so hard for Gaia to reorganise and reconsider a few priorities, and if the loyal users get replaced by people who are only interested in enjoying the next big thing before moving on, we're only one next big thing away from becoming obsolete. I don't want to see Gaia die because they mistook fly-by-night users with people who actually gave a s**t. That is what I think, and if you want to laugh at me, go ahead. I won't care.

No, but that shouldn't stop us from fighting for our Gaia. I'll keep fighting until Gaia is nothing but a Neopets knockoff, but I won't stop until it is. If you give up now you're pretty much just letting them win.

until i see a mcdonalds sign in barton town
im just going to keep doing what im doing on gaia

domokun

We've already got an MTV store.

uhh mtv is a great sponsor
popular music and internet culture were made to be partners

im not one of those people who hates it because it talks about popular music and w/e

ive always found it to be a rather entertaining medium and enjoyed it for what it is
just like i do with gaia.

a fastfood place that sells burgers im not sure i could understand it being a sponsor
and thats where my problem would lie

Your argument would be valid if the sponsorship was actually about music. Instead, it's about a reality show about a group of stuck up girls and their spoiled life.

I fail to see how that has anything to do with music at all.

yah im not about to get techincal here and remind you that mtv as a sponsor
means more than just mtv as the chnl

but whatever LOL
your bias is incredible

mtv is a great sponsor i jumped for joy when i saw gaia and them teamed up
and i cant wait to see what other things it will allow us to bring to gaia

people and features and yes, even more sponsor of the same kind of genre included

Actually, MTV as a sponsor does indeed mean MTV as a channel. The Hills? MTV show am I not mistaken? All we've seen so far is things related to the MTV channel and really nothing to do with music.

... drop me random PMs?

so whats to say its not going to happen?

Last time I checked this was Gaia, not Rome.

Rome was an amazing civilization with ruthless leaders and an amazing culture. Gaia is an internet site that is changing their main priority from the userbase to money.

gaia wont die, its never been more alive than it has been

and if you want that community spirit or whatever that keeps you here
******** do that, but dont let it interfere with gaias business like...

i dont understand how these deals for them to make more money and bring in more people
are really at the core affecting your time here

other than that, it all goes towards improving the site and the features

if gaia is so great, if that feeling or whatever you have for it is so strong
why are you letting something like this have any change on it?

Rome didn't start off being a show about airheaded bimbos that obviously isn't an interest of a majority of Gaian users. Rome didn't start off being an attempt to slip corporate branding into Gaia's system, and Rome wasn't a project that took away massive amounts of development time from the main focus of the time, Greece. I don't think the comparison is apt.

Why would ANYONE think it was a good idea to create something like Virtual Hollywood, a completely separate system from Gaia Towns that is going to essentially be useless in the future? If MTV pulls out as a sponsor, what are they going to do with Virtual Hollywood? Nothing. Let it rot, move on to the next thing.

Instead of expanding Gaia Towns, making new areas (like Cities) for us to explore, and inserting MTV stuff THERE, they decided to waste time and effort on a project that did nothing to expand Gaia, and only served to meet the needs of a sponsorship.

THAT is what is taking Gaia down.

The opposite of this would be the Quest System. It was developed as something that could suit the needs of sponsors and users alike. We had ALL been clamoring for the quest system, we were excited about backwings and rare items.

And yet, the user side of that has been shoved aside in favor of sponsorship quests. Poor Fleep has been toiling away on revamping the quest system. I'm guessing constant interruption by having to craft sponsor-specific quests didn't help any. And here we are, nearly a year after the quest system was released, and how many non-sponsor quests have we gotten? Two.

How many sponsor quests have we gotten? I'm not even sure there are numbers big enough.

It's a bit difficult to maintain that when what made it that way is increasingly being taken away.

trying to appeal to other people is whats bringing gaia down?

what they did was create a place outside of gaia for people to still come and hang out
they did that for you guys, to still bring in new people and give them a place to chill

without them coming in and running around your stomping grounds and whatever

your never going to get all the things you want
when will you guys get this, if that happened if it was as easy as you all want it to be

you would get bored of gaia and quit and it would die

THATS THE ONLY WAY ITS REALLY GOING TO HAPPEN

they have to draw the s**t out to keep you around
its not rocket science

Too many to count with items that barely anyone will ever use, save for the fans of where they came from such as the Naruto Kunai.

You know, maybe Gaia IS like Rome.

Rome started off as a small part of prosperous Greece, an offshoot or colony. It quickly grew. Became autocratic. Drew more and more of the culture away from Greece, copying and corrupting it to serve its own purpose. Greece was diminished and eventually destroyed, and Rome grew to control everything, whether the citizens of Greece liked it or not. Sure, their gods were still there. They were just "renamed." Perhaps to appease corporate sponsors. No more philosophers and science and social discourse. No, all that mattered to Rome was collecting taxes and expanding and waging war.

Sounds a heck of a lot like what's happening to Gaia to me.

I have to say I'm much more prone to quit the new Gaia than the old. When the old Gaia was around the community meant a lot to almost everyone now I barely see anyone who cares about it outside the GCD and certain guilds.

Hm, thats insightful of you Alex and I see your point o.o

One difference though, the citizens of Rome loved Rome for what it was. We are trying to change Gaia, make it revert back to what it was.

the community can still mean alot to everyone

maybe all you oldbies need to think of it this way

bitching about everything on end all the time
is that the best example of this wonderful community your trying to hold onto?

is that any example to the new members about how to get and keep that community feeling?

its up to us to spread that joy
not gaia or its sponsors

they arent taking anything away from us
its us that are taking away from us
