Welcome to Gaia! ::

As mostly everyone knows by now,
Gaia uses the Impulse Purchase tactic
to get customers, and it works; However,
I have a question I want to ask you GCD.

In this picture you see the current standings
of the current ( since topic was posted ) cash shop
items. Notice how it has them in limited quantities and some
are even SOLD OUT.

Would you say that they are actually sold out or this is just
another part of their marketing ploy to get consumers to make
more impulse purchases in fear that they may miss the offer and
not get another chance at it?

Ohh, more conspiracy theories!

Yes, they're sold out. The marketing tactic is to make them limited, which almost guarantees more purchases--both because the price can only inflate over six months, and because it's kind of a preventive "but what if I decide I want it later and it's sold out and expensive" measure.

Heart Tamer

They have better things to be worrying about right now, like people who are still exploiting the CS. I don't think they're skewing the numbers. If that were the case, you'd see it happen with far more limited items. Only the really popular items tend to sell out. Some barely sell more than 200-300 copies.

Sparkly Trickster

Those are limited quantity items. Only a certain number of items are offered before they are shelved for a time. By limiting them, it is a marketing tactic, but yes, they are actually sold out when listed there.

This isn't a conspiracy theory,
but good try.

What.

It says 0/999
That means none are left.
Which means it's sold out.

Sorry, I now realize I was speaking over your head.

these are pixels. They can be duplicated.
They are not physical items that you have to ship to someone.

I already stated all of this,
what are you going on about?

Also, nothing in gaia's cash shop
is ever ' limited, ' there's proof of that
everywhere.

How do you think they determine if an item is going to be popular
or not, answer me that? Based on the demographics this site caters
to, their target audience is females in the age group of 13 - 25.

While they do have males, and more age groups on this site, their
content is specifically targeted to that demographic because it has
gotten the best response.

No, you're not speaking over my head.

Yes they can be duplicated/re-made/re-released whatever.
They are LQI ( Limited Quality Items )
Gaia stated that after a certain amount of months they DO re-release LQIs if they wish.
But for the time being those "SOLD OUT" Items are sold out until they get re-released IF Gaia ever chooses to re-release them.

It is a marketing tactic, because Gaia is a business you know.
They need to make money in order to run the site.

You really do have a bad attitude.

The big letters saying SOLD OUT mean that the item is SOLD OUT. They are only making a certain amount available.

These are items that have been decided to be sold for the first time in limited quantities. There is an explanation of them in the FAQs. Once they are sold out or removed they won't be sold again for at least 6 months. The limited quantities IS a marketing ploy. Companies do it all the time by releasing limited edition products. But an item being sold out is not a ploy. The item is sold out.

Oh I'm sorry,
I wasn't aware that when someone mocks you
for having an opinion, you're supposed to remain respond positively.
I'll make a note of that, thank you for your wise words. rofl

You're the one being catty and mocking people because they don't share your opinion.

Whatever, enjoy your conspiracy theory!
