Gaia Interactive making an 18+ website?

I just got an email survey I took that asked me how I felt on different names and what they reminded me of.

chattr.com
threadr.com
ravel.com
tentacl.com

I have no idea why they insist on so many misspelled possibilities. The best I think is imagine.me because it defines an avatar based forum site, which you later find out in the survey is what the possible names are for.

What do you guys think?

A name is as good as a logo. It helps define a brand.
Imagine.me is much less homely and fantastical and more streamlined. I wonder what possible change could entail.

Maybe we are having a baby (spin off) website, and this is the name for the new site? Possibly an 18 and up site with avatars similar to Gaia's? I couldn't imagine Gaia changing their name so drastically after 10 years. Then again the past few months have been kind of hectic.

I understood that it was a new product, so it would be separate to Gaia. Since there were previous emails about consideration for an 18+ dealio, I would probably agree with Darksp that it's going to be something closer to that. Tinkering with a brand is likely to cause a lot of problems, and it's easier to make a new site and slowly start shifting everyone onto it so the brand starts from scratch than rebranding something like Gaia with a new name.

I also went for imagine.me. I thought that would be the one about avatars, and lo and behold, avatars it was.

I know it was one go-gaia but it's still gaia. I'd really hate it here if they went and changed the name to any of those horrible things.

This survey is unrelated to gaiaonline.com. We're not changing Gaia's name.

Ravel.com and Tentacl.com sounds like a mysterious sex-play joke together.

Okay, honestly, I think it's pretty obvious that they aren't changing the name of this site from Gaia to anything else because that would be a horrible marketing tactic, let alone flat out bad idea. If these new site names are for a site, then I would think it is for another site (possibly 18+ or at least with a higher age restriction). I like Ravel the best just because the others sound either childish or just off-topic.

Why would you tell your users of gaiaonline.com that your going to put more focus into the main site and then go create another. Especially after giving a bunch of staff members the boot so you should now be short on man-power.

What about the manga updates, alchemy, and many, many, many, many, many other site features that are still being neglected? How is creating another website beneficial at all?
