First log in of 4 yrs. In your opinion how has gaia changed?

Well, I've used Gaia since I was ten years old, and have been on and off up to the present. (This is my most recent account, I've had many.)
I'm currently nineteen.. There have been a lot of changes, the most would be with the currency.
I remember when 8K used to be a lot of gold, but today I just won 5k in the lottery... sweatdrop
And obviously, the community is much, much larger. The community was so small that there were Gaians literally everybody knew, or had heard of.
Pretty crazy.

Gold generators, at least 2-10 cash shop announcements daily, no more Zomg.
Kick starters. Boring events that glitch.
Recolors... lots of them.
Most of the old staff is gone.
But at least we have outfit slots.

Less staff interaction, though that has increased recently.

Horrible marketplace inflation.

I ask you, how have you noticed gaia change over the years?

I've been here since 2004 and pretty much never left. So yes, I've notice the changes... right when new management made their presence known.

What new things are cool?
- Manga, the airship storyline was stalled for a while but now we have one artist making it happen. There have been some good developments for Gino.
- Some items... though much of it is very female intended.
- The amount of creativity new items are getting, such as arm, leg, face, and hair mods.
- Animal avatars... cause cuteness reigns.
- NPC postings... I think they're hilarious personally.
- Ask the Staff (aka Admins) has returned. It is more organized, but the sessions are shorter.

Anything you don't like? Anything I should know?
- New management... just learn their history, which is about 2 years worth.
- La Victoire updating "Every Day" since 2013, it hasn't stopped.
- - Artists are over worked.imo
- Inflation, Gold Generators, Exchangers running the whole Marketplace.
- Lanzer is now a home body or something like that.
- A good chunk of the original staff is not longer present. The developers and founders are gone.
- Too much emphasis on avatars that are female, light skin, and strictly dress in pink fluffy stuff with kittens on the side. I like cute but it gets ridiculous sometimes.

I just returned too. Seems like there's a lot more items (body modification-wise) and everything looks cute. Inflation, yea, but I'm sure the items in your inventory inflated too so hopefully that helps ya get some gold! smile

This account is from 2003 when I was in highschool, I logged in for the first time in 2-3years just now, links in this thread helped answer some of my questions.

Inflation is obvious, I used to be pretty loaded on here but I spent my gold on items or gave it away so no idea if I'm even asset rich anymore.

So many items I've never seen before.

Guilds that used to be thriving non-stop action are dead quiet *tumbleweeds*

There used to be a dating forum swarming with creeps back in 03, the "love" building on the world map, it's still dead haha, thought they would have done something with it like make it a wedding chapel and avatars could get partners and babies all sims style >___<

In the olden days there never was cash, just gold and to earn it you had to load pages. Dial-up Internet was still a thing so getting 2000g took 2000 page refreshes of the 4 pages on the site and approx 11.5months.

It doesn't feel exciting anymore, but I'm grownup now, maybes the kids still dig it like I once did. It still looks cute.

so many broken profile pages not displaying correctly of all my friends who dissapeared.

Decreased staff interaction and the gold generators are about the worst they can get. I haven't seen a decrease in marketplace prices yet. What they need to do is have the new staff host events instead of releasing gold generators and packs every day. Or at least they could research the logic of video games to understand such a simple problem such as inflation.

I'm not blaming them It's not their fault they don't know, they just logged on. It just always happens.

I guess wishing that this would stop is like wishing that Christmas music would only play around Christmas instead of halfway to thanksgiving. It's just how the world works.
