This has been an idea of mine since I join Gaia. I originally thought it was going to be like Habbo Hotel or Coke Music because it had avatars but I was wrong. I thought to myself, if we could explore the world of Gaia it would make this site kick even more a** than it already does. I never really vocalized my idea before, atleast I don't think I have but I noticed that Lanzer's signature said something about Gaia Town or something. If it is anything like what I am thinking here are my suggestions for it.. if it is not.. uh.. here are my suggestions for it!

____The World Of Gaia Summary

Gaia Town would be the actual world of Gaia, but pixelized(I think it would be best if its graphics were isometric). I think the main screen for it would be a large world map of Gaia which is a birds eyeview which we can click on the town we want to visit by it. It would show bodies of water, mountains, grass areas, basically the geography of Gaia. From the main map, we would visit the towns and everything within (whether or not they are on the drawn map or not). It would also allow the world of Gaia to expand even more, giving us locations and other towns.

____The Purpose of The World of Gaia

The main purpose would be fun and to add actual gaming into the Gaia game. Yes, I can not say I do not have fun talking on the forums and I will probably have fun talking on the new chatroom I hear is to come, but The World of Gaia would have much more to offer than just forums or chatroom. I believe with a system that enables us to wander to locations in Gaia and chat more friendships would form and we would be more united. Sometimes we get so into our serious conversations, debates, constant greed for more items and gold get into the way of making friends, socializing, and just enjoying ourselves without trying to get this or argue about that. Yeah I know people enjoy that(i enjoy it too) but I think the World of Gaia would be a relaxing, calm, yet upbeat and fun way to take a breather.

____The Plot In The World of Gaia

With the plot of the site, the ability of exploring the World of Gaia could greatly help it and move things along. Like in the Matrix Online game there are hundreds of people in the world, but randomly on a select few can be significant to the storyline which could be the same here. With the openess of new areas and the mansions of the Von Helson Sisters and Gambino the members of the site could actaully affect the sites plot. Example: Maybe some of the Von Helson supporters (*puts up Anti-Gambino picket sign*) with the exploration of Gambino's mansion something might be discovered against there will and such.

____Explorable Locations
Note: Any in (parenthesis) is a small discription of the possible locations.

Barton Town: A Love Lounge (it would return as the personals but in the world it would be more of a love lounge and match maker place for people to meet at), Jewelry and Clothes stores (they would serve as normal stores, maybe some shelves showing some stock and when you click the shelves items pop up, ie instead of pages of close you click a different shelf?), A music shop (maybe you can buy midis, instruments, music videos [haha]. Maybe it could double as a dance club? a music symbol could represent alot of things), and the Art Arena(It could be styled as an arena but really serve as a gallery. Possibly the top 100 ranked art could be up for display which is updated every month or so. Click on a wall painting, a pop up with the artwork comes up, it is framed and everything?)

Durem: The Von Helson Mansion (It is explorable, with all the different rooms. Maybe some of the rooms like the kitchen or salon could be used?), a salon and clothes shops (The salon could actually be where you can get a customized hair style. When I say customized I mean like a hair color palette or something with the base hair stills.. or if there is a wig feature like everyone wants, maybe this is where it can be done?), the Clock Tower(not exactly sure what good this could be, or why it would be worth exploring but I guess.), the Cathedral or Church (Not sure if the large building with the crosses is a Cathedral or Church but it could pass as one. It could be for the religous people to spend there time or for Gaia Weddings if people hit it off at the Love Lounge.. haha), and the Reclamation Facility (not exactly sure what the heck a Reclamation Facility is, but I guess it has purpose).

Isle da Gambino: Explorabe Gambino Mansion (It is explorable, with many rooms that have information about Gambino, Gino, and the mysteries of this crooked man! [*shows off picket sign again*]), the Marketplace (The marketplace is my favorite place on Gaia other than Avatar Talk which I rarely am for some odd reason.. anyways. I think that the Marketplace would be a good place to work, for those who are more into making gold they can pay some gold to set up a stand in the World of Gaia and run a business out of it. Or maybe you can have a completely different set of items for the World Of Gaia which don't go onto the avatars and they can be sold here such as Foods, furniture, music, movies, whatever), Clothes and Hat shop(explained already), Weapon Shop (Because the whole Battle System is underway, the weapon shop could sell weapons and armor. Along with that maybe a training facility inside of it as a mini game to prepare for the actual battles?), Casino(I have heard that this is an under construction feature as well. I think this should be were the games are actually placed versus setting up a page and such.), Docks and Boatshop (This could be where Gaians can purchase water based items NOT relating to fishing. This could be used as a mini game, like boat races or ski competitions), and the Port of Gambino.

Aekea: Clothing shop (already explained), Furniture Shop (It looks like Ikea [I kind of thought of IKEA when I saw Aekea and I thought maybe it was a coincedence though I doubt it] with like furniture galleries and room set ups which are merely for decoration but you can actaully purchase furniture for your homes.), House Commisions (it could be like a huge construction place where you can actually customize the room style similar to habbo hotel. I would think a pixel home would be better than the 3D because I believe the 3D clashs with the Pixel Avatars.), A factory (get customized furniture, walls and floors.. by color only).

Bass'ken Lake: The main fishing area (it would take the whole fishing experience to the next level in pixels), Fishing Store and Fish Market (It sells items for fishing and possibly fish for food and health[which will help with the battle system]), recreational park areas (people can picnic and just hang out with each other at the docks or on the grass areas).

____Other Features of the World of Gaia

New Locations: I think that there should be an urban/slum-like area of gaia or a dark area. A graveyard or memorial to the people who died in the explosion of Gambino's Mansion.

Recreational Areas: Amusement Parks, Arcades, Beaches, Resturants, etc

Avatar: For the miniture avatars that could be possible maybe they should have different features than those of Habbo Hotel or Coke Music. Basic Actions: Wave, Dance, Smile, Frown, Cry, yeah yeah. New Greetings: Hugging, a kiss, Belly Bump, Hand Shake. Other: Raise the roof (haha, played out I know but it is classic), jumping/climbing (maybe to get to higher areas if there are mountains), swimming, tickle, laugh, etc.

Residential Area: I liked the whole house idea, but I wasn't to fond of the graphics used (as I said 3D and Pixel didn't look right to me). I think that if you added a residential area to hold the homes it would be cool. Uses a navigator to scroll through neighborhoods, a name search to find a particular home, etc. Maybe tagging locations, West, South-West, North Residences, etc.

Homes: More control over homes like naming it, more rooms to name (like habbo hotel/coke music). Whether the homes are made by placing it in the title, teleporters, doors, starts, whatever.

Businesses: I think that people should be able to create businesses or headquarters of guilds and the Von Helson Sister Army or Gambino Army (pssh! *parades picket sign*).

____Q & A About My Idea of the World of Gaia
I will take questions if you have any about my idea. I will try to answer them the best I can, maybe if I get my ideas in check and well prepared enough, I might make a petition for people who agree.. please just let me know if you support it so I can see if it is enough to petition it.

Q:If we use Gaia Towns which sums up the whole map feature, what is the point of still having the map?
There are several reason why the map will still be useful.

1) Some links on the map(links, forums, guilds, marketplace) may not be accessable in the Gaia Town feature so the map would allow them to get to those.

2) For people who just want to fish or buy an item would have to wait for Gaia Town to load (who knows how long that could be) and by having the map still they can get in and out in the time it would take Gaia Town to load.

3) Hehe, I had another reason but I forgot it.. oops sweatdrop

Well, good idea! sweatdrop
Clever, I never would have thunk it^^

Dramatic Hunter

I personally find this idea minorly horrific and entirely unfeasible.

Let habbo keep it's chunky pixel graphics and let gaia remain what it is supposed to be..a forum.

Besides, the gaian avatars are really cool looking as they are, to implement them into a game would detract from their customisable capibilities and as a direct result, their uniqueness.

Not to mention that walking around gets boring and could be just as easily rped in the Barton Town forum.

Finally there would be the issue of implementation, how would Gaia's already over-laden servers deal with the pressure of hosting an entirely interactove world? Surely it would get to the point where a compulsory subscription fee must be paid to sustain the site itself? Wouldn't that alienate users who either cannot pay over the internet or cannot afford monthly fees?

I don't like this idea at all really and would suggest that if that is what you want then you go play ROSE or Ragnarok online, games clearly closer to what you want.
I lurve the idea!
What Baneful says it true. Perhaps we should just leave all this stuff to the admins and mods (They are the one's who do all the work around Gaia, correct?) They should be able to decide how much they can take. I'm pretty satisfied with what we have now, although some of the thinsg you mentioned would be spiffy. 3nodding
This would fit better in the Feedback Forum.
My reply to Baneful:

First thing is, the miniture avatars of Habbo Hotel are what I am referring too, not the large chunky ones, i did mention that in the post.

Second thing is just because there is a pixel world for people to explore, doesn't mean that the customizable avatars would just go. It would merely just gain more of an audiance for them. The people who are against the world, won't be forced to explore it. The ones who are against the forums, don't have to post on it.

Third thing, I don't really get tired of the walking around thing. The world does have more to offer than walking around, it is a chat room pretty much anything people would say and discuss in the chat room I have heard they are adding back to Gaia Online can be said there.

Forth thing, about the whole thing of them charging.. Charging is not necessary to run the world. Habbo Hotel does not charge nor does Coke Music does not charge. What Habbo Hotel does is they charge for currency, you pay a couple dollars for 25-200 credits or something like that. Gaia Online could do that, for those who are willing to pay for gold in bulk, they can set up a system for that. Which I don't see a problem with since so many people have suggested that already. On top of that they have people donating money for the donation items as well. By doing that they will make a profit off of it (if that didn't gain them a profit I highly doubt Habbo Hotel would have a different branch for every key country).

Lastly, yes that is what I would like to see but it isn't solely me with this idea. I never vocalized this idea before, and I just realized that Lanzer had some sort of idea for Gaia Towns and I was making my suggestions about that.

It fits in both here and there.

My final point would be that though you compare this idea to habbo, Gaia has a MASSIVE userbase in comparision.

At the time of writing Habbo had 4000 users online, Gaia has 14474 users online, and this is a quiet time of day.

Coping with the strain on here would be a MAJOR problem.

And, once again, why change Gaia so drastically when someone could make another site just like the one you mention while not twisting gaia into some happy-go-lucky chat room?
<center>It's not a bad idea, but it does kind of take the originality out of Gaia.

If you want to walk around with an avatar go venture forth to coke music or that habbo place.

And if Gaia did decide to do such a thing they'd probably have to end up charging money, due to Gaia's larger population, and the stress on the servers will mean even more downtime.

And Gaia's main foundation is suposed to be the forums, that's what it's always been, because... Gaia is a ROLE PLAYING community.

Look at the banner on the front page, it even states that. And role playing is best fit through text and not pixelated actions.

I would say that this is a good idea, but like Coke Music, it would turn into a hangout for perverts.
in response to baneful: Change is good. Embrace it. I would not hurt if Gaia was more than just a forum.

In response to bluewave: Indeed change is good, but only when that change is for the better.
