Does EVERY NPC really need a fanthread?

Seems like any time an NPC is introduced a fan thread pops up, is this really neccesary? I mean I understand things like the Truth about Timmy, thread, but fan threads just to say you like an NPC, is this really neccesary? I highly doubt that NPCs are going to have their feelings hurt if they don't have a fan thread. how much discussion is there there really? if nothing else maybe they could at least have their own subforum, in Site Feedback or something?

everyone wants to host there own 25 page GCD beast post it seems, and fan threads is the easiest way to do it... It got out of hand when there where fan threads made to prototype NPCs... I just ignore them anymore neutral .

It just shows how much Gaians as a general like certain NPCs.

It's quite a good gauge really.

@ Pain' Maybe so, but there still isn't a discussion there it's just "Homg I like this NPC too!" for the most part that's why the subforum discussion, we have fanthreads for cameo chara's i'm suprised the spider from the durem comic doesn't have a fan thread.

We also have fan threads for donation items. sweatdrop

It has hardly anything to do with the actual NPC or character.
It's about doing something first, getting recognized or having a
long running GCD thread.

Although some are legit like the Grunny Empire or Team Sprocket.

I don't think there are enough NPC fanthreads yet that it can get its own subforum. I was thinking about it today, and there's not as many is it would seem, I'm sure. As for it going into Site Feedback, I don't think that's a very good place to put it. It should belong somewhere in the GCD because it's about Gaia and the manga plot.

I guess some of them are ridiculous, but I kind've like them just to see the sort of things people collect on these characters. Unfortunately, I've found that the information is general stuff that everybody pretty much knows.

I find all the fanthreads unnecessary, especially when there is no discussion going on. I just try to ignore them for the most part.

Apparently so! It's starting to get a little annoying when 40-50% of the threads on the frontpage are fanthreads... neutral Oh well. As long as people have fun, I guess?

There will always be a fan thread for a NPC.
Even if they don't do anything, it can be just a item with a face and it will get a fan thread.
I don't see it in a bad way, nor do I care.
Were here to have fun.

I don't mind fanthreads so much (they are not for me, though) but I hate coming to the GCD and seeing one "Offical ___ Fanthread" after the other. I hate having to sift through fanthreads in order to find actual discussion topics.
