I don't know about a hang out thread, but there are guilds- many guilds.
And every year (that I've been here) there has been a new years party in a town square that had the same address as the new year.
A few of us (mostly lurkers) continued to go to the '08 square on a regular basis, but it's died down this past year and makes Kinka cry emo

I don't think there's a GCD hangout thread. It'd be sort of cool if there were, but it'd just turn into oldbies and elitist assholes excluding people from conversation. Kind of like the old days, actually.

I've never ventured into any of the GCD guilds, mostly because I'm scared of what I'll find there.

We can't have a hang out thread in the GCD. Due to... Rules and Guidelines. You know, one of those important sticky topics you're... supposed to read before posting in the Forum?

There are guilds however which you can join (if they let you, they're pretty elitist) that will give you a good faucet to hang out and talk nonesense.
