Said it before, I'll say it again. You're just not trying hard enough.

Everything is matchable.
Ive found a few but its extreamly difficult.

Then revel in the challenge.

I just figured "Eh screw it i'll make it a scene"
Lol.
Older pixel work vs newer for colors... It gets confusing and hard to match some things. Mainly because a lot of hues have vanished to 'match' anymore. Or, they're on their own. ( I can think of a few shirts that are perfect for an example. )

Then again you don't always have to be 100% exact. I guess it all depends what your aim is for your avatar.

I do find it pretty annoying when I can't work with an item. But there are still tricks you can use when it's a rarer color.
I usually find similar shades and work with items with similar shades to the difficult item + another color + the item with the difficult color.
If you work in colors that look naturally good with the difficult item, you can usually work out a pretty nice outfit.

Matching is uncreativeand the refuge of those without the items, wealth or self esteem to look good any other way.

The Classilke matches practically nothing except itself. The yellow on the Toadstool is hard to match also.

I disagree with this. Matching is the same as any avatar style. It can look classy, or it can look lame and ungeneric. Matching is a particular art of balance, imo.

Matching is only an art in so much as colour-by-numbers is.

Matching is formulaic: Hair, shirt and shoes match. Head accessory, eyes, belt/neck/wrists, socks match. Tiny second head accessory, earrings, belt/neck/wrist, han held/black, ankles match.

If the person is putting the tiniest bit off effort into they end up with something that isn't an octopus wearwolf geisha with a frying pan.

Thats actualy a pretty good tip!
Thanks!
The obsidian tatsu helm....I HAVE BEEN TRYING FOREVER!!
Your talking about textures, not colours. [D

Any shade of the same colour will match itself. Texture is what makes it look odd to you people. :U

Matching is just another form of creativity. That some people obviously lack in. Just because it is uniformed doesn't mean it lacks creativity. It just means that certain people don't have the capacity to make uniformed and matching......creative.
Ugh, I know how you feel. Matching the shiny blue of this scarf is a pain in the a**.

AUGH. I know eXACTLY how you feel! I have these items I'm saving until I can finally put together something good with them---and you see how long it's taking me. Years. I just have no idea what I can do in the meantime, so hence still dressed like this.
(This orphan is one of those things. I'll be honest. I like him, but I guess he just doesn't like me.)
the Queen Anne's Lace is a gorgeous item, but i can never be happy with any avatar i make with it because no item on this site really matches with it. i hate it. ;w; the dress is just.. impossible to use.

also, about the whole "matching is uncreative" thing, i see what you're saying. but not only do you have to match with the colors, but you must arrange them all in a pleasing way, while making the items all look nice together. i just think that some matching avatars look great and awesome, and then there is the kind where they just want to put all the pretty colors together and the avatar itself doesn't make sense or flows. it's hard to have an avatar flow when matching when there are so many different items out there and combos. it's hard to find a nice way to put together all the items.
if.. that makes sense? i'm just saying that matching can be hard. it isn't just something that's simple and takes a second and is for the lazy and uncreative.
Well... I'm no longer a matching freak, if my avatar didn't give that away xd Most items are picked up for "style" purposes these days.

But yeah, if I'm trying to match, and the shape of an item fits the avatar perfectly, but not the color, I WILL drop to my knees and shout "WRRRYYYYY" in my head.
Most every blue-gray item doesn't match with a personal favorite of mine: The Rufus Cosplay.

It breaks my heart. I love those ears. D':
