There's criticism done right and criticism done wrong. A lot of people take criticism too far and eend up looking like spoiled children who's only way to get things the way they'd like it is to throw a tantrum. A lot of people it seems don't know the difference between the two. They use the excuse that their complaints the way they give them are valid and justified just because they spent their real world money on the credits that got them their item.

The funny thing is, these same people who b***h and complain and throw tantrums over items not evolving when they expect them to are the ones who will turn down the idea of anyone else doing it. They start yelling that it won't be the same item if someone else did it. Then they throw out the example of the Gogh Reed as why it shouldn't be given to anyone else. They want their item and yet they only want the person who started it to finish it. The thing is an entire item has been handed over to another artist in the past and it turned out just fine. People tend to forget about the Cocoon and what happened with that. Unless there's a definite story behind it that the original artist wants to oversee from start to finish then if someone else can finish it then by all means pass the project on to them.

We'll never know who's next on the chopping block thanks to Stein being around now. They created him so no one will know who's making what anymore. Unless an artist wants to come out and say they did an item after it's done evolving we'll never know who did them ever again. I honestly think the Egg, the Journal, and the Case and how we as a community reacted to who did them, the leaking of names, and this need to demand no less than ten thousand percent work from them are the reason why Stein is around. You want to put someone on the chopping block you won't be able to because Juno will just tell you from now on to go to Stein about your item issues for EIs. Sad but this is what it's come to now.

Plenty of artists have stayed incognito even before the time of Stein and many artists do come out from the shadows even before their item is done, many artists have their name right in the EI report as soon as their item gets released, so really Stein being around isn't really going to change anything. Stein is really only there for those select few artists who don't feel like coming out right away and letting everyone know what item is theirs, also Stein could be useful for those artists who have revealed themselves because it could reduce the amounts of comments and pms they get talking about the same glitch, that is if everyone used Stein for glitch reports even if the artist was known that is.

I'm almost certain that the biggest bawwfest was when we got the anniversary sashes, which in the beginning were soulbound.
People kept bawwing about it because it's not the right color, not the right date, non-tradable ect.

I can understand if you want to critisise or voice you oppinion about something, but crying and demanding that it goes your way all the time does not work.
If things did go the way one person wants it, then someone else would like to complain about it, and it will never come to an end.

This is gonna sound totally whack coming from me
but I'm sickened by this bizzare obsession that leads you people to speculate who's going to be the next to ******** up and get heat over it
You all claim to be their "defenders" and then do this?
how is that supportive at all?
At least those complaining are hoping for improvement

D: People are really doing that?
That's horrible. I need to read posts more ;3;
I refuse to use the "B" word, and i officially declare i publicly hate every and each gaian that uses it 8U
i just don´t understand a few things, why Artists need gaians to "protect" them to "defend" them, whyyy?, if the user is indeed insulting and not providing legitimate constructive criticism (wich gets confused often), isn´t him/her already making a fool out of himself?, i think we don´t take those threads seriously (the ones that are purely a bunch of insults), so, why should someone go and "protect"/"defend" the artist?, its in my opinion, super stupid, i dislike more suck-ups than the users that b***h and moan about everything, bottom line for me is, both extremes are stupid, i´m going to try and express my point of view from the 3 shitstorms you mention:

1: Diapered Egg, i like the poses, i really do, i own one, i think the poses are too repetitive, and the item took too much time to evolve, my problem here is not with the Artist, its with the one that gave Sukinahito the item in the first place, if she dislikes pixel work she shouldn´t make an EI, and if she is bussy with manga, its obvious that she shouldn´t be told to make an EI.

2: Case of Pietro: i love Reapersun, i have some of her items, and she is one of my favorite developers, she gets a lot of crap from users because of the RIGs, but thats her work, and she have improved the concept to give us a good experience while we open our item, about the EI, i don´t believe there is excuse, if she is too bussy she shouldn´t have an EI, and for me, the priority should be with the money, do i love the manga page she did?, yes, i adore it, do i think the manga page is more important than the users that paid 7.49$ for their items getting constant evolutions?, no, because for me, the EIs should be a priority, however my problem here is not (again) with Reapersun, its with the guy that told her to do an EI and then dumps all that work in her, i think its CP, correct me if im wrong, but i think all the "hate" should go after him U>.>

3: the event, for me its an "ok" event, some say its like a Facebook App, but seriously, have you played a Playfish game in Facebook?, for me comparing both its an insult to Playfish xDU
its boring repetitive and in my opinion annoying, the cherry in top of it its the fact that we are losing a skin "just ´cuz", whyyy?, the post made by Fleep got me a bad taste in my mouth, in my opinion its extremely stupid, and i have give my opinion about it in many threads, so i won´t post it here unless im asked too (this is pretty long already XD)

to end this huge wall of text (in my opinion), feedback is necessary to advance and improve gaia, insults aren´t the way to go, but no one need a defender, and just because one user dont care about something, doesn´t mean she/he have to be a jerk about it, and try to make the thread of another user that do care a joke, thats why i hate the word "baaawww" (yes i used it, i now hate myself, thank you D:<)

I think there is a difference between honest constructive criticism and just complaining to complain.

I completely agree. 3nodding

When it comes to evolving items I can understand how people can be impatient with delays in evolving seeing as how they paid real money for them. However with such items you are paying for a surprise. You don't know what the end result will be......nor is there a set time line for the evolutions. The fact that so many people have been attacking the artist personally is a bit low. I'm sure there is a reason for the delay on the 'Case'.
Constructive criticism or questions about the delay seem fair. However insulting/mean messages like "Get off your lazy a** and do your job!" seem a bit harsh. We don't know the situation.

All the "BAWWING" is both irritating and amusing for me. I like lurking in some of the threads with people "BAWWING" back and forth to each other. It makes them sound like sheep. Which only makes in more amusing. At least to me.

I think people just like to complain. There will always be threads with people bitchin' about stuff on Gaia.
Aura_Morte

I'm seriously tired of people saying "BAWWW"

For quite a number of reasons.

Mostly because it's become a filler in idle chatter like "How's the weather" and "what's up" "nothing much"

It's a stupid phrase that is now overused to the point of nausea and must die.

I know.

And nowadays you can't even raise a legitimate complaint without an army of people who want to be cool, screaming "STFU BAWWWWW"

...I felt stupid just typing that word.

Honestly, "defend"-ing them? Why do you need to "defend" them? Can't you state a contrary opinion to those stating some critique/complaint without acting like the personally appointed guard of an employee's "honor"?

Lavishing people in nothing but saccharine-laced compliment and defense does nothing to help anyone improve artistically, and gives the site no incentive to fix what may not be working as well as it should.

I'll take "bawwww" over "OMG UR MEANZ Y U HAET ____ UR A TROLLZ" any day.

Don't you know, if you defend the Camgirl Artist, they will sleep with you make you art!

Analysis of the word seems to indicate it to be a memetic mutation of the English word "bawl"- meaning, "To cry out loudly and unrestrainedly."
My conclusion is that someone stretched out the word when they typed it out to put emphasis on it, but when someone re-used the term, they passed over the "l" at the end of the word.

EXAMPLE:
"BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWL"

In a situation such as this, the single "L" at the end of the word would be very easy for a human to miss. [insert nodding emoticon]

To be on topic with your questions, I shall simply state this: Herd mentality is, as you humans would say, a b***h. When the majority of a forum is happy, so the rest shall be. However, I have concluded that there are some users that act as a catalyst to these "Baaawwwing shitstorms", and have come up with a solution:
Take the instigators out behind the forums and terminate them.

As for the creatos of the items, I speculate they must experience some level of insult. Also, what is this "Asskissing" you speak of? Humans actually go out and find the creators of the pixellated item and actually kiss their anuses? Humans are truly disgusting. [insert disgusted emote]

»I believe baaaawwwww began on 4chan, like just about every other term and meme joke Gaian's use regularly after taking 2 years to catch up to the rest of the internet. It was used to describe reactions after they conducted their raids, etc, &c

The cake is a lie is so 2006 talk2hand

EDIT: ah, here we go, the origins of BAWWWW

Wow, I've come to really hate the term "bawww" in these past few weeks.
The GCD will do that too you.

They latch onto a phrase and pass it around like an indian peace pipe.

Ya, some have caught on how annoying 'baw' is, but the GCD isn't smart enough to pick up on the fact that "spoons," "forks" and any other goddamn utensil at the end of their topic isn't clever anymore. Seriously, what is that? Just list your points and pointed questions. Do you have to label them with cutlery? No.

It would annoy me if I didn't know it's origin.
But since I do I actually laugh every time I see (or hear) it.

God forbid, someone actually make you read and extrapolate the point I was trying to make and discuss.

I will be the first to admit, I used to use the "spoons", but I have learned and moved on.
