The Angelic Nitemare
Don't get me wrong, I love the work the artists here at Gaia do, I really do.
But to be honest...the art thing is their job. They get paid for it, and those of us who invest real money into the site, to help them keep their jobs, expect a little something decent for the money.
If I was making shirts for a living, and you asked for a shirt, you would expect a shirt, and in a timely manner. Not a shirt with 4 right sleeves that each sleeve is a different color, and took 3 months to make. And then have the audacity to ask you for 50% more than the better shirt I made you last year.
But... they never guaranteed you it was going to be, say, a normal shirt. Yes, if it was a business like a t-shirt business, and you order a black shirt and get a white one, you would have reason to be annoyed. But if you hire an artist to commission something, you can't complain about what you were given unless you SPECIFICALLY asked for it and were SPECIFICALLY told what you were going to get. In Gaia's case, it's rare for an artist to say "Okay, this is what you're getting." We only get hints, and what we make of those hints can be different than what it really is. But just because there was that difference doesn't mean they weren't "giving you what you want".
I see what you are saying, but the point I am trying to make, is even if we don't know what we are getting, a timely rate of production is expected. No matter the work. 20 min for a burger, 2 days if the power goes out, months for pixel art. Times like those are generally accepted as "not quick." No matter how pretty it is. And a certain measure of quality, rather than a recolor that can be done in 30 second in all colors in Animation shop, including save time if you aren't picky about names.
Ah, I see. I have mixed feelings about that "problem" myself
sweatdrop Of course we want to receive our item updates within a certain amount of time, but again, there was never a
guarantee on when that item will be releasing. Also, it's an "artistic" thing, and "art" doesn't have the same regular pace as things like making a burger or a t-shirt. Then again, this
is a business, and not a hobby or freelance job. So... I don't know what to say about the timely manner thing. I admit, even though the artists seem to be suddenly given projects they weren't expecting, it
would be nice if they would publicly show the schedule they're aiming for for an item.
