Don't get me wrong, I love the work the artists here at Gaia do, I really do.

But to be honest...the art thing is their job. They get paid for it, and those of us who invest real money into the site, to help them keep their jobs, expect a little something decent for the money.

If I was making shirts for a living, and you asked for a shirt, you would expect a shirt, and in a timely manner. Not a shirt with 4 right sleeves that each sleeve is a different color, and took 3 months to make. And then have the audacity to ask you for 50% more than the better shirt I made you last year.

But... they never guaranteed you it was going to be, say, a normal shirt. Yes, if it was a business like a t-shirt business, and you order a black shirt and get a white one, you would have reason to be annoyed. But if you hire an artist to commission something, you can't complain about what you were given unless you SPECIFICALLY asked for it and were SPECIFICALLY told what you were going to get. In Gaia's case, it's rare for an artist to say "Okay, this is what you're getting." We only get hints, and what we make of those hints can be different than what it really is. But just because there was that difference doesn't mean they weren't "giving you what you want".

I see what you are saying, but the point I am trying to make, is even if we don't know what we are getting, a timely rate of production is expected. No matter the work. 20 min for a burger, 2 days if the power goes out, months for pixel art. Times like those are generally accepted as "not quick." No matter how pretty it is. And a certain measure of quality, rather than a recolor that can be done in 30 second in all colors in Animation shop, including save time if you aren't picky about names.

The problems with your arguments is that you're using examples that are completely unlike the product you're comparing them to. We know how long it takes to make a hamburger or a shirt that is machine generated.

When you commision artwork from a real, live artist, there is often an indeterminate waiting time. You can't rush art if you want it to be well-done. You might get an estimate on the waiting time but there is very rarely a set due-date unless the project falls under special circumstances.

The artists never said that they would release EIs in any specific time period. They said "Hey, check out these new items that have a tendency to evolve over time!" Their first attempts at the items were smaller, less complicated and evolved faster but the whole medium was being tested out and refined. Now days they take longer to create but we generally get more intricate items and poses.

I agree that artists need to be held accountable for the items they create but time was never a factor on the evolutions. Not even from day one.

Ah, I see. I have mixed feelings about that "problem" myself sweatdrop Of course we want to receive our item updates within a certain amount of time, but again, there was never a guarantee on when that item will be releasing. Also, it's an "artistic" thing, and "art" doesn't have the same regular pace as things like making a burger or a t-shirt. Then again, this is a business, and not a hobby or freelance job. So... I don't know what to say about the timely manner thing. I admit, even though the artists seem to be suddenly given projects they weren't expecting, it would be nice if they would publicly show the schedule they're aiming for for an item.
I wish we'd ban the word "bawww" from the site. (Well, not really. But I'd be entirely happy if I never heard it again.)

I get SO ANGRY with people yelling "BAWWW" at people with valid complaints and not bothering to listen to them. It pisses me off way more than people complaining about nothing, frankly.
Worse then the bawwing itself is those that only reply to a thread with the word "bawwww". It's a cheap way to argue that's all it is.

Am I the only one that think baww sounds more like what a sheep would say?

The cake is a lie, just like the illusion of the whole of Gaia being happy.

I don't feel the need to defend an artist simply because they are an artist.
I left high school a long time ago and I don't enjoy that mentality on Gaia.

Where one chick gets offended, all her friends form an army and go after the one who supposedly insulted the one friend. That s**t is juvenile and beneath so many of us.

The artists are big girls naow who are mature (I hope) enough to handle things on their own.

Perfect. A certain level of accountability. Saying you can't rush art, to me, is a poor excuse. I'm not saying it should be rushed, but come on, a little something would have to give, or artists wouldn't make money, and no one would do it for a living.

I think many people forget that they're expected to do so much more than make EIs's at Gaia. Using your example, if you make shirts for a living- you just make shirts. You're not expected to be pulled away from that and put on a different project in- say construction- and forced to put your shirts on hold for the moment, making customers who ordered a shirt, wait until you're done whatever job you got pulled off by a superior to work on.

I get that, but here is the thing, many of those EIs are supposed to be planned for the most part, months in advance, as well as other stuff too. And these kind of time constraints and project shifts, these artists are well aware they will happen. It's part of the job.

I don't want to see them chewed out, but at what point do we start asking them to be held accountable for their work?
Here's the thing- the way I see it, an artist may be instructed to do an EI, but their superiour doesn't say anything except that it has to go out a.s.a.p- the artist begins to work on concept stages, ect, and Friday rolls around- BAM! first evo completed, ready to roll out, ect, in time for the EIR. It's now out there to the public, and if the artist is the kind who likes to add in people's suggestions and ideas into the EI, then it's left open just for that. if all the poses are done in advance, there would be a problem adding other's suggestions and stuff into the EI, with the item cap for EI's, and something would have to be left out (most likely, the people's suggestions)

Fixed mrgreen . But enough of that, I'm not a-scared. pirate The artists don't need 'internet white knights'. What they need is a reminder, that they made what they love, into what they get paid for, and that if you are not the top boss, you might be expected to certain obligations, creativity be stifled or not.

See, this is why I never went into writing as a career. I'd have punched myself in the mouth.-lmao-
I only use "B'awwwww" when the complainer themselves is acting like a spoiled brat.

And sure, the EI artists may not have a schedule, but you'll tend to notice something's off if every other EI has evolved countless of times and the other one....hasn't.

Of course eyes are going to draw to that one and you'll start to ponder what's up with it.
Everyone, everywhere will always have somehting to BAWW about. All new changes to anything cant make everyone happy.

But, yeah, Bad Moon really wasnt a werewolf EI... was it? I mean it had wolf-ish items... but thats not want anyone wanted.

Also, as for the CoP.... they are getting payed to do a specific job, and they should do it on a timely manner or atleast give reasons for not doing their job. Or, atleast, they shouldnt tease us/troll us will comments that are rude. Thats just bad work ethic.
