It's similar to the "console wars".
And by that I mean that it's annoying to most people and there will always be that guy that picks something totally different (bronies) to try and be funny.

I kind of hate oranges though...

I just got home from seeing the Avengers with my best buddy.
The two of us has Star Wars characters.
We spend our time conversing on the moments of star trek of both generations that made our lives.
We are batman fanatics. We fan girl over the newest comics.
He likes Mass Effect and I like Legend of Zelda.
We fan girl over manga and special edition art of all things at the bookstores.

I do not participate in these wars. Because I stand to love all things geeky, and seeing all sides I do see it. They can not be compared like star wars to star trek and marvel to dc. Those are the common wars, or like console wars or manga to anime wars. In this case, there are no similarities to even start the argument.
