Ladies and Gentlemen, we all make mistakes.

Some of them are known only to us. Some of them will haunt us forever.

And some of them piss off thousands of people because you happen to be running one of the world's largest online communities.

Yes, even the administrators and developers of Gaia Online make mistakes. I'm sure you all have things that you'd like to change about Gaia.

But what are some decisions that you feel the admin and devs look back on and just ask themselves: "What were we THINKING?"

Some examples: The Black Bow Tie.
The most basic of basic formal fashion items. Forever lost to 99.9 percent of Gaia, because it was a prize for the first annual ball.
Now, if you're wearing a tuxedo, you'd better prefer long ties, or not mind a blue or red bow tie. Because this one classic item of fashion is forever out of reach.

The Headphones: How much simpler can you get? Everyone loves to listen to music, and I'm sure that many wish to represent this on their avatar. But because such a simple and basic item was one of the early donation items, most people will never own them.
The admin have been trying to make it up to us for years with the Zony items, the angelic microphone headphones, the UFO headphones, and lastly the Jacked Headphones.

Now, bring on your own examples.

I think the Grizzly Hat is gone into that range that you meantion. I rarely see anyone wearing that, and they've tried several times to release something similar (the hamster hats and the Bear PJs).

Yes, but I'm not just talking about unatainable items, my terrifying volcano headed monstrosity.

For instance, the grizzly hat is rare, but if it weren't would anyone wear it? Probably not.

The bow tie and headphones, however, would probably be popular even if the were commons.

And it's not limited to items, of course.

They're probably banging their heads over letting us keep the grombie skin, for example...

Not to sound ungrateful, but I wonder what was going through their minds when they designed these vampire skins. They just don't work. They should have realized that making a skinnier body would mean lots of items wouldn't fit them right anymore. I mean that's pretty basic. How long have they been doing this stuff? Surely long enough to know that much.

It's just stupid. Same with the black bowtie like you mentioned.

I didn't forget them, it just seems moot if they haven't been released, and we have no way of knowing if they ever will.

Of course the originals look the best. 1. They're the most normal.

At least it's better than the Alien/Zurg skins from last year. I think that is the most likely reason developers where banging their heads against the table. I'm pretty sure gaia's overwhelming dislike of that plot forced the Zurg to make a hasty retreat from our world.

I know what you mean. I turned one of my mules, and even his hair didn't fit him! There was this white line around his ear. Had to change styles.

Well of course it was terrible. The skin was terrible, the event was no fun and very user-elitist (see comic of random alien and users drawn in)
I honestly didn't know what was going on, but I didn't want to go and look it up if it's submerged in the user community.
