I have well over the original cap of 2b on my account right now, so either way, don't worry about losing gold when you sell. You'll be fine.

There will always be a gold cap. It's just the nature of data storage. But now that it's over a billion times what it was, hopefully it'll take another several years before it's relevant again.

The cap on how much you can list an item for has also gone up, but apparently the amount you can actually pay hasn't. I've heard that change would require completely rebooting the Marketplace, which would cancel all listings and prevent any new ones for as long as it took Gaia Staff to finish rewriting the code.
