I was cautious about revealing what I do online when I am online, but this is mostly because I viewed it as a security issue. Now I don't have a problem posting what sites my username is expected to be see at.

I don't think I'll be ashamed to talk about Gaia in public. I love Gaia, so if anything, I'd be sharing it with as many people as possible, if I could. I just don't have any offline, real life friends, so no one's ever really asked about Gaia for me to advertize it to them.

Been here so long im not bothered. Plus on the outside world, im an attractive and talented woman, who's known for being quirky and flamboyant, so this site, would not come as a surprise to anyone if i mentioned it. In fact, im surprised someone hasnt asked if i know about this site haha, oh wait, i was introduced to it by my sister back in 04 xD

Gaia is an interesting site, was better back in the day, but I would be thrilled to find others on the outside who have an account. Gawd I just realized im old :c i miss the good ol days...

most people ino irl dont know i go on gaia except my husband rolf and as well as some of my siblings. It's bc i'd like to have it separate from my life sort of like a place to get away from irl etc. it's nice. im the type of person that gets stressed so easily so for me not to worry about anything i keep myself busy in gaia. right now i want to distance myself from everyone else I know bc i am just waiting for my life to get started (waiting on papers so i can work etc, i moved here to my husband so waiting process is such a biatch). And, I also see gaia as a way of distraction bc I dont want to worry too much about everyone elses lives ( you can practically see it all unfold in their facebook pages so im usually never logged on in facebook lol)... it may sound that i dont care about them but the truth is i do, its just stressful for me to think about alot of things about everyone else when I can't even handle thinking of the stuff i need to do for my life right now. My priority right now is hopefully get my residence permit here in norway (im already married) so i get free classes to learn language once that happens, and get a job so i can help my wonderful n understanding husband to pay for bills etc. then when that happens i can prolly not be too active in gaia (but i might buy some bundles etc to support when i have spare money from job) . (right now i cant afford to do so, being a homebody housewife can be well poorly lol)

Pretty much everyone who knows me knows I'm a member of Gaia Online. Hell, every site I'm on, I mention what other sites I'm a member of. I've been here since 2004 and I still plan on coming here every day. I'm 25, as well. Not old compared to some users on here, but not young either like most of the other users around me.

If you're so ashamed of this site and/or hate just about everything on it, why be here? I don't get that kind of logic.

It's not really an age thing for me, I just turned 21 this month, been on here since I was 15. I don't think I'm too old for Gaia.

But I don't have many friends in real life that I feel comfortable enough to tell what I do with my free time. I'm rather ashamed of my hobbies, because they can be considered either shallow or "silly", it's not just a Gaia thing. The only people that know I'm on Gaia are my family and a close friend. My siblings, cousins and friend also had a Gaia account of their own before but don't come on as much or they never come on anymore. My one sibling and cousin still comes on here every now and then though. Since I'm in university, I can talk to them through Gaia.

I still like Gaia a lot, past two years I had a falling out since I started university (also because I feel since I graduated, Gaia got a bit less fun, not due to age again though), but I still come on here daily.

Gaia's the best, if anything, I kinda feel sorry for people that only know about bland sites like Facebook.
I do get embarrassed but I work through it. I've been here for a while with some off stints inbetween. Im 26

I usually avoid leaving gaiaonline on when I'm with friends, mainly because if they were to read my posts they'd know that I'm actually more outspoken and less innocent than they presume. sweatdrop

Always baffles me a bit when people say they are ashamed of something they like and enjoy. I mean, if you like it, then all's good, no? Those who don't like it can just stay away razz

I used to go on Gaia at my previous job (since I had internet access there at all times haha). Shame is always a problem of the person who feels it; meaning *I* don't feel ashamed of it, if someone else feels ashamed that *I*'m on Gaia? Their problem 4laugh

I wouldn't be ashamed to tell my irl friends, but I am ashamed to tell my online friends.

It's not that I value one group of friends more than the other, it's just that it sometimes feels like that Gaia just isn't culturally relevant anymore...(internet culture, that is) so if I told someone that I visit Gaia Online, they'd probably respond with "people still use Gaia??" etc.

I am 24 years old and I have been here since 03, though because of my age (and I keep thinking that everyone here is a minor??) I don't exactly go to the forums anymore : x

Among the various things I could be ashamed of talking to with friends, Gaia is very far down on the list. Heck, my older sister and I have arguments of which is better, Gaia or Neopets, in front of our parents and her husband...... We're nerds and proud of it.

Gaia has never come up in a conversation i've ever had with someone I know in real life and I don't think it will very soon unless I get new friends. I wouldn't mind talking about Gaia I just don't feel like starting a conversation in which people would have no idea what I was talking about.
The only people I know in real life who have a Gaia account would be my sister and shes quite active on it. Its fun talking to her about items and such but thats as close as I get to speaking about Gaia with people.
