The guy was pretty much enthralled by having a woman at his side now. Here was an average man having come home from his cubicle desk job at a foreign business company, and he seemed to have struck luck with having someone like her now at his side. It was not the same as having a hostess; it was their job to cater to people like him. No, this woman was actually a customer. Landing any kind of chat with her was an accomplishment on his part. And if he kept the lead of this little chat, he could probably have her in his bed by the middle of the night. Yes, everything was looking pretty for Mr. Kitler.

"Cale, huh. That's a nice name. Just call me Kitler. I come here every other night. It's a good place to come and relax when you get off of work. Good drinks, fun games, and..." He looked over to her, slightly lowering his glasses. "And beautiful women."

That's right. Keep it up and this broad was his, he thought.

Cale leaned back in her seat, crossing her heavily-booted feet at the ankles as she relaxed. 'That's a nice name...'. She took the compliment for what it was, and gave him a bit of a smile. She liked the name, too. It was much better than 'Accalia'. She shuddered to think that anyone might find out she had such a girly name. The guys back at the gym would all laugh, and she'd be forced to knock in a few heads. Which, actually, could be pretty fun.

She pulled her thoughts back to the present, just in time to catch the cheesy delivery of his flirting. She had just taken a healthy gulp of her drink, and the poor man had to bear witness to her coughing and spluttering as she tried not to insult him by laughing. Indeed she grabbed a napkin just in time to hide her grin as she choked and snorted booze out of her nose. It burned and made her eyes water.

She thought she did a fairly good job of passing the whole thing off as a coughing fit, trying to save him the humiliation of noticing her impromptu giggle fit. Lying for his benefit, she tried to play it off as if she just didn't hold her booze well. (Which was a total lie, but whatever.)

"Uhh-- oh my, I should pace myself! Bit of a lightweight, really."

Was this guy for real? It was kind of adorable the way he was hitting on her. Probably thought that she'd be in his pants by the end of the evening. Unfortunately for him, he was the exact opposite of her type. Subtlety and flirting didn't do much for her... in fact, nice guys in general didn't have much of a chance.

He was a bit startled when she began coughing. Was she really laughing at him already? Damn, he was being too direct. He shouldn't have tried that line. Being out of the game for a middle-aged man like himself really was harmful. But then her words caused him to sigh. It was a cost of a little fluster, but nothing he couldn't come back from, his smile returning to his face.

"It's quite alright. As long as it isn't anything too strong, you should be fine."

His eyes settled forward onto the game of Mahjong before them. He didn't really care for the game. There was something much more interesting sitting next to him.

"Don't screw this up, Kitler. A few more drinks and she's yours."

He offered her another pour from the large bottle in his hand.

"Allow me."

Well s**t, that might not have been the best lie to tell. Having led him on to believe she was a lightweight, he'd probably expect the next few drinks to really get to her. She was impressed at his persistence though - most men would probably have backed off after seeing the pretty lady snort booze out of her nose. Clearing her throat, she tossed the napkin in a nearby trash can.

"Sure, thanks. I could use some more, considering I spilled most of the last one."

She chuckled and held out her glass, allowing him to top it up. She wasn't in any rush to learn Mahjong, and so she didn't press the matter on her companion. Besides, she was pretty sure that the somber, thoughtful men at that particular table wouldn't appreciate her company at their game. She could be fairly boisterous.

She didn't make any advances on Kitler herself, made no move to imply she wanted anything more than company and a drink, but nor did she snub him as some women might. Cale was a friendly sort, and didn't actually think herself better than him despite her reservations about his intentions.

"Ron!"

Someone said this aloud over at the Mahjong game, causing a little stirring from the rest of the players. The one who said this grabbed his share of points, white thin bars that represented his winnings so far as he placed them into his box.

"So. You got yourself a husband or something," he asked, deciding to test the waters for a relationship. Not that it mattered. He would bang her even if she was already devoted. The married ones were the better women, anyway. Somehow, the thrill of cheating and the experience that came with it was a great combination for a man like himself seeking some excitement in his life.

Cale's first reaction was to glance over at the Mahjong game, as if to see who 'Ron' was. She assumed he must have been the guy that won, but quickly lost interest in the game in light of her companion's latest question.

This time she actually did snort in laughter, although thankfully she didn't have a mouthful of booze. She shook her head, smiling.

"A husband? Me?" The thought made her chuckle. "I haven't found a man that can put up with me for that long yet. Or one that I could put up with, for that matter."

She knocked back her drink fairly quickly as they conversed, forgetting that she was supposed to be a lightweight.

"What about you, is there a Mrs. Kitler back home?"

If there was, Cale amiably wished that such a woman would soundly beat the man for his unfaithfulness. Not that Cale particularly cared if the man was (trying to) cheat with his wife. She was just of the opinion that a woman should be able to assert herself, and if that meant using physical force then all the better.

"No. Last wife I had divorced me two years ago. Guess I was just too busy for her."

He looked away as he spoke about his past. He didn't like bringing it up. His wife was a good wife, but he lost her because of his drinking habits. Always staying out late at night gambling. Never spending any time with her. She was his high school sweetheart, too. The very thought of losing her only made him drink and gamble more and more. One day, it'll all consume him into his untimely death and suffering. Until then, he'll just keep living the moment.

"But I've decided that the married life is too much. I just enjoy the adventure from now on. Don't you agree?"

"Ouch, I'm sorry to hear that. I'm always on the move too, so that really puts the kibosh on settling down with anyone."

Cale honestly couldn't help but troll the poor, downtrodden businessman a little bit. A mischievous glint sparkled in those amber eyes of hers and she nodded enthusiastically to his question.

"Oh for sure, I'm all about excitement and adventure. I like my life like I like my men - fast-paced, unpredictable and dangerous."

The wolfish edge to her smile hinted at the fact that when she said dangerous, she didn't mean in a mid-life fantasy Twilight vampire kind of way. No, Cale would probably snap a pretty boy like that in half (metaphorically).

"You seen much in the way of adventure, Kitler?" Perhaps, secretly, he was a member of the gang that was rumoured to run the place. Now that actually would be exciting, although she couldn't see it.

She liked dangerous men, eh? He couldn't help but picture himself in a biker jacket, cruising the streets with her riding on the back end with him. His hair was a glossy pompadour and shades made him look "cool". His hand rubbed across the top of his head. He could pull it off if he gave it a try, a chuckle coming from him as he minorly daydreamed.

"Well, I once dealt with the Triads...wasn't for a long time, but it was a better adventure than any."

His dealing with the Triads was not as glamorous as he was making it. It was actually the opposite, but no need to tell her that.

If Cale could only see the man's daydreams, it would have completely made her night. As it was, the light of real interest finally shone in her eyes as she regarded him.

"You dealt with the Triads? That must have been some adventure - why don't you tell me all about it?"

She rested her elbows on her knees and linked her long fingers together beneath her chin, leaning forward eagerly as she begged his tale.

In her younger days, she had run with a street gang for several years. She still kept in touch with many of her old mates, although time and circumstances had driven them apart. They had been real close, like a family but without the formal structure of these big-time mafias. She was very intrigued by the Triads and their dealings, which had been part of why she had chosen this particular venue in which to spend her free time.

Currently, she mostly did solo work or took on whichever jobs she could find on a more temporary basis.

There is a saying that goes something along the lines of 'Everyone wears a mask'. A sound statement, so long as you took the term mask figuratively. It was a saying that Naota had taken to heart, a core part of the way he looked at life; Everything is masked. Your intent, your emotions, and yes even yourself sometimes. Subterfuge was his craft, and while he didn't have the hubris to call himself a master...he was still talented.

Naota strolled into the establishment with all of the arrogance and charisma one might expect from a well off business man, or a well established criminal. His black tuxedo was equally well made and under-spoken. Showing class without drawing attention. Black hair cut short, face well shaved, his face was remarkably unremarkable. The type that you wouldn't remember the next day after having a conversation with the owner.

Dull steel grey eyes scanned the first room, lightly populated. None of those inside were the ones he was looking for. Calculated strides brought the man over into the connected room. The casino portion of the establishment, where the majority of the customers were located. Naota strolled down the isles casually, his attention split between acting like he was looking for a lucky machine, and looking for a particular man.

Ah, there they were. A pair sitting on some couches off along the wall. Naota made his way there slowly, nonchalantly. Just another patron passing by the guards on his way to fill his drink. Then, in a sudden and swift movement, he'd slide his way over the back of the couch into a comfortable seated position. Adjusting his suit jacket, the man would nod towards Ko and Fox. He figured he had maybe a half a second before the guards were snatching him up.

Jay glanced up from her drink to watch a very smartly dressed man stride through the doors and right past everyone to her boss. Interesting....
She had ditched the man from earlier, he was becoming overbearing and was more than a little intoxicated. But Jay had made a fairly decent amount of money from him, which was why she had decided to relax on a couch by herself for a bit, enjoying a glass of wine while watching the games continue...Maybe she could find one of the winning parties and have them book her out for the remainder of the night.

Sighing a little while leaning back, occasionally hearing a snippet of the conversation that Ko and his companion were having, but nothing that interested her overly much. But hopefully the over confident man could provide some entertainment, since he had bypassed the security...Oooo Things could get messy real fast.

Jay found herself half turned on the couch, peering over at the group like a small child, the exception being she wasn't wearing much and had a glass of wine in her hand.

Kitler chuckled some more. Of course she was going to make him tell him all the details. But he was going to avoid that question, instead deciding to redirect it into a more favorable conversation.

"Of course, but my bottle's a little empty." He shook the glass bottle. There was less than half left, but normally enough to still be reasonable. "So how about we go over to the bar and get ourselves a refill. In fact, there's a special drink I want you to try. You'll love it. Lightweight, too."

He had a plan now in his mind, created from impatience, horniness, and the buzz of his liquor. She was definitely going to come home with him one way or another. Whether it be willingly...or unwillingly. He stood up, suggesting she follow.

-----------------------------

"Hey!"

Naota was quickly approached by the guards. Their hands gripped his shoulders, ready to pull him off the couch. Ko watched as they did this. He knew who the man was, but he chose to remain quiet as he took another drink from his glass. The guards pulled on the man, both of them, and threw him at the ground, or at least attempted to do so.

Cale had no problem getting up and following the man over to the bar. She wasn't particularly suspicious of him, but even so - she made the assumption that she'd be able to protect herself should it come down to it. True, she loved her pistol, but there was a reason she spent most of her spare time cooped up in a derelict old boxing gym with a bunch of sweaty, gruff, muscle-bound guys. And it totally wasn't just because she liked to look at them. Really.

"Well, ya can never go wrong with more booze."

She agreed as she followed him over to the bar. She thought nothing of the fact that he already wanted a refill. 'The guys' as she fondly dubbed her gym mates and best friends, were all heavier drinkers than most of the people here, and that was saying something.

Fox looked at the list, taking a deep breath, blowing it through his nostrils.

"I haven't exactly fought these guys.."

Fox leaned over over again, giving another glance at the list.

"..but I somewhat know them.. and it's safe to say that the tournament is... pretty balanced."

Fox sipped from his drink, leaning back onto the couch

"I mean, they got all kinds of fighters: Casters, tanks, close quarters, Chi abilities, weapon users... You name it, it's there. All sorts of people too-- well, socio and psychologically speaking, as well as physical.

We'll just have to adapt to the situation. Train ourselves, instead of training for them."
