✖ Thɛ Inn ✖
✖The First Floor:✖
Be careful when you walk through the front door, that door’s been busted so many times that it had to be replaced too many times to count. Anyways, the hinges are probably worn to the breaking point already, and those will be harder to replace. The room is cheery, with it’s large windows, light carmel floorboards, and pale yellow walls. The ceiling is tall, and light brown beams support the ceiling from the top. Someone with enough power would be able to reach the beams and sit atop it if they wanted to. In the center of a room is a dark blue couch, with a tiny TV set directly in front of it. Besides the couch to the right is a dark blue recliner. Behind the couch is a raised floor, almost like a porch, with a series of light brown cafe tables and chairs upon it for eating, relaxing, and otherwise. At the western wall is a long light brown and yellow bar table. Although bar tables are traditionally used for drinking, those who sit at the bar are not always getting drunk. After all, Toro Toro isn’t a tavern, despite the fact that food, drinks, and hospitality is free of charge. Instead, the bar is set in the style of a cafe, where residents can choose to eat their breakfast, lunch, and dinner, read, use their laptops, or simply talk to the other members at the bar table without having the pressure of needing to ask for an alcoholic beverage
. Behind the bar table is a little counter for conventional, easy, food preparation, and besides that to the right is a tall refrigerator. Above the counter is several cabinets, some holding rum, wine, and other beverages, others holding silverware, decorations, candles, among other unnecessary items. Behind the bar counter is where you’ll almost always find Isabel, the innkeeper, preparing cake, or listening to the radio. She’ll attempt to be there to assist you whenever you need it, but if you find her missing, expect her to be back soon. If not, find her. A missing innkeeper is never a good thing.
If Isabel isn’t behind the bar counter, you’ll probably find her in the kitchen, a small, homey room, cluttered with cooking supplies upon cooking supplies, recipe books strewn across the floor. In the center of the melee is the one spotless piece of furniture in the room, a haven from the chaos, the spotless brown countertop where Isabel prepares day to day meals that she places in the refrigerator for the residents. Towards the northern wall of the kitchen is a wooden door, that leads to a walk in cupboard where the bulk food is stored on wired shelves. Once upon a time, the cupboard was framed wall to wall in elegant mirrors, but they had been taken down due to a certain....incident.
But if Isabel is still not even in the kitchen, then, by chance she may be
mopping The Bathroom. The Bathroom (Yes, at Toro Toro, The Bathroom is capitalized. It’s just that memorable.) had been a certain notoriety for as long as anyone could remember, popularized by the vampire Demetri, a regular who is also known for being the only resident to sleep in the basement. Despite the fact that The Bathroom is just, in reality, an ordinary bathroom, it is the way that is used that is special. What makes the bathroom so great is that The Bathroom is a unisex bathroom, and because of the fact there happens to be a crimson red couch in the room, The Bathroom holds a fine history of scandals. But Isabel has to clean up after everything, so when you do use The Bathroom for it’s namesake, clean up after yourself, and give the poor girl a break. After all, if no one cleaned up after their....risque adventures, who would?
The First Floor is also the link to all the other areas of the Inn, of course. A long winding staircase to the right of the bar area leads to the floors above the Inn. A small trap door in the floor to the far corner of the room leads to the mysterious basement below. And finally, in the area behind the cafe tables, there is a glass door that leads into the gardens, a place where the scent of flowers is a constant aroma in the air during the Summer, and a crystalline wonderland of white during the Winter.
✖The Gardens✖
The garden is the highlight of the Inn, and Isabel’s pride and joy. If anything were to happen to it...she wouldn’t be very pleased, to say the least. But upon exiting the Inn and walking into the gardens, you’ll find a tiny meadow, dotted with white wildflowers, and surrounded at all sides with white roses. There are two paths leading from the meadow. One path leads to another small clearing, which hosts a home made horse stables. The horse stable itself is small, but it is home to three horses, and tall mountains of hay. It’s a nice place to relax on occasion, especially if you are an equestrian. The other path leads deeper into the gardens, in a jungle of tall tress that reach into the heavens, perfect for climbing. In fact some of these trees host tire swings or swing sets made simply with a plank of wood. The garden is also dotted with fruit trees, random vegetable gardens, and bushes of fruit, of these, most are perfectly safe to eat, except for the mushrooms. If you ate a mushroom, it could be the last thing you’d ever do.
If you venture farther into the garden, you’ll end up in possibly three different destinations. One is the large pond nestles in the stones, even with a waterfall gushing from the crevices in the rocks, dripping over the grey stone like a canopy. The mossy green pond is quiet, even with the waterfall, but there is an au
ra of mystery that surrounds it. Perhaps, there is something extraordinary in the pond area, but so far, it hasn’t been discovered yet. But you wouldn’t have the time to actually explore the area, would you? It’s too peaceful to be considered a threat. So you should just sit on the stone bench in front of the pond, relax, and stare into the water.
You could also possibly end up in the green hedges, a tall massive fence that is the border between the Inn and the park. All of the enchantments set on the Inn are neutralized upon exiting the Inn through the hedges, and having done so, you’ll enter a largely suburban park, with neat manicured grass, short trees, and lots of whiny children. However, it is difficult maneuvering through the hedges, which is why the sensible humans, and even the sensible demons try to avoid doing so. For starters, it is plagued with small thorns and poison ivy that could take weeks at a time to recover from. However, it provides a quick escape in times of an emergency.
The last area is the forest, a place beyond the Inn. For a while, you’ll find nothing but thick woodsy areas, but eventually, you’ll reach the border between the Inn and what is out of bounds. At the site, you’d find a tiny sign that says in scrawled handwriting “The Borderlands, Proceed At Your Own Risk.” If you proceed onwards, there is no telling where you might
go. You are, after all, no longer in the safe areas sheltered by the government. You could end up in Ironside, the realm of fae. You could find a tiny village, or a cottage, or maybe even a kind stranger. Or, if you’re unlucky, you’ll find yourself at home with thieves, criminals, and the demons that had lost their minds long long ago. After all, the sign is there for a reason.
✖The Second Floor:✖
The second floor is basically a long wooden hallway with brown doors that lead to the bedrooms. In the epicenter of the door is the room number, and directly below that is a large key hole for one to place their room key inside. Next to the rooms are also mail slots that will hold your mail. If the white flag to the mail box is raised, you’ve received mail. If not, you’re just not popular enough to receive mail from others on a regular basis. Depending on how many residents are staying in the room, the room is either a large room that houses two people, or a medium sized room that can house up to five people. However, per room, the maximum number of people that can stay in a single room for a long period of time is five, and no more than that, otherwise it would be very cramped. Anyways, the rooms that house two people have two beds that can be pushed into one if the residents so choose. The rooms that house three to five people, on the other hand, are the same size as the duo/single rooms (The rooms are rather large, and they are meant to be personalized by those who claim the rooms) have one double bed, and can have up to two single beds. The quilts are dark blue with accented white flowers, and the pillows match the quilt. To the right of the room is a desk, with wires for internet access included. Above the desk is a tiny shelving unit
for books, papers, and whatever items you so choose. To the left is a small white table with two dark blue cushions to be used as chairs. The table also has drawers, but the drawers are empty. Farther down the left wall is a closet, with a long metallic pole where you can hang all of your clothes. Above the pole is a shelf, which also provides general storage. On the right side, there is a white door that leads to the personal bathrooms. Inside is one large bath, with a golden shower curtain included, two sinks, and a very fine toilet for all your sanitary needs. A golden trash can, a soap dispenser, a laundry basket, and a rack inside the bathtub (To be used to hold shampoos, soap, loofahs, rubber duckies, exc.) are provided by the Inn, but you must refill the soap dispensers yourself. Also, in between the sinks, there is a mirror present, but the mirrors can now be easily removed and put away due to a certain incident. Also, just above the toilet, is another shelving unit, also for all of your storage needs.
So aside from the rooms on the second floor, there’s a tiny storage room with a few buckets, mops, and other cleaning supplies. At the very end of the hall, however, there is yet another staircase that leads to the third floor.
✖The Third Floor:✖
The Third Floor is identical to the Second, but the staircase leads to the Fourth floor.
✖The Fourth Floor:✖
The fourth floor is designed as a long hallway, but there are no residential suites. Rather, the rooms are designed for your entertainment and needs. There is a library, with rows and rows of mostly older books, but there is the occasional popularized novel that can be found somewhere among the encyclopedias, magical history guides, and other reference books. In the direct center of the library, nearby the windows, is a line of desks for studying. Right in front of the windows are two desks, the desks that possess the only two public computers in the Inn. Be wary though, the computers shut down randomly at times, and they tend to lag.
Another popular room is the swimming pool, which hosts an elegant marble floor, with a long rectangular pool right in the center. There is a underwater staircase that leads you into the pool from the shallow end, and there are two diving boards at the deep end. On both sides outside the pool, there are reclining chairs with plastic white tables for those who prefer not to swim.
Nearby the swimming pool is the Gym, which is divided into two sections. The first section is a conventional gym, with basketball hoops, but to the side there are mats provided for sparring practice. There is also a room that supplies some standard sporting equipment, but if you are looking for alternative equipment, you will need to prov
ide it for yourself. The other section of the Gym is the fitness room, which hosts one TV, three treadmills, and two weight lifting machines.
Even farther from the Gym is the Nurses office for those who, unfortunately, are injured at the Inn, or elsewhere. There are five hospital cots, all with night stands beside them, and heavy blankets. Opposite the cots is a long white counter, with various medical supplies atop of it, and a piles of clothing that suspiciously resembles straitjackets. Even above the counters is a long row of cabinets, also possessing various medical supplies.
The smallest room on the Fourth floor is in fact, the Laundry room. It is the only room besides the Library to have a window, and it is the only room on the Fourth floor to be painted in the same cheery yellow as the First floor. The Laundry room holds a 1950s styled washer and dryer, that are reliable despite the fact that they are outdated. They even wash and dry the clothes fairly quickly. The problem is the noise. Although the noise can’t be heard outside of the room, you better bring some ear plugs if your ears are particularly sensitive, because if so, you probably won’t have a very pleasant experience.
The last space aside from the staircase that leads to the sun room is a tiny broom closet that hasn’t been used yet. It doesn’t even have a light.
✖The Fifth Floor:✖
The fifth floor is the Inn’s roof, but it is protected by see through glass walls, and a see through glass ceiling, a change that had only recently been made. Because of an enchantment, however, the glass walls cannot break, so you are perfectly safe. You can see a great view of the city from the roof, especially at night, and the room also provides two stand up binoculars, and four reclining chairs. The room is also surrounded by potted plants, cactuses, and some small trees. Mori, a residential butterfly-human who stays at the Inn, often sleeps in the roof top garden at night.
✖The Basement:✖
A room for storage supplies and nothing more, but it was eventually used as a bedroom for one of the Inn's vampires, Demetri. In the center of the basement is a mattress for sleeping and relaxing, and directly beside that is an old green couch with a black coffee table in front of it. But behind the boxes and supplies is a very old door that's been bolted shut with dozens of locks. Who knows when it’ll be opened again, unlocking the secrets of a seemingly perfect Inn from the twinkling of the resident’s eyes. After all, bad luck tends to follow the Inn for a reason....
