The little boy stopped and let go of her hair, his face crestfallen at the idea of them being siblings.
But she can't be, that would be no fair! She's so pretty and smart... Then the boy hatched an idea.
"Well...He isn't my father so you can't be my sister. You see? He's just Captain, and I'm his first mate. And first mates are like best friends, right? Like they aren't family."
Robyn's face twisted in confusion, thinking about the possibility of the first mate and captain being family.
"Well, maybe they could be family..." Sliding off the bed, Robyn jumped and raced out of the room-he wanted to ask his mom to explain to them whether they were brother and sister or not.
Stopping at the last step, he looked down at his feet to make sure he didn't trip, making a soft thud. The boy looked up and froze, his mom in the middle of what seemed like a stressful conversation. At least, the look on her face look stressed to him.

Listening to his words, Morgan closed her eyes with a smile.
"Of our own?" she whispered, still shocked that he had a similar thought in mind. His voice was smooth and gentle, tickling her ears. The woman held his hand against her stomach as she considered the idea of it swelling with new life.
