The longer she stood there, the more she struggled with the decision. It had to be made. she had to. She had to see for herself who was waiting on the other side. What was waiting on the other side. She glanced and the man, then behind her to the girl before turning back to the door. With one swift movement, she pushed the door open.
As soon as she did, there came moonlight from the other side of the door. There, by a fountain in the middle of the night was Sophie, well, not Sophie as she stood by the door but Sophie as she saw herself at about 13 or so with a boy who looked maybe 16. He was holding her gently and the Sophie in his arms smiled. It was only another moment or two after he whispered something in her ear that the pair parted ways. where nightmare and Topaz couldn't hear what was said, Sophie heard it in her ear. Fresh as it was the day he said it.
'I'll be back for you.'
The now Sophie stood in the door frame and took a step or two in. With each step the scenery changed. The first step brought her to a building. It very much resembled a slave house with its caged windows and echoing halls. Many different kinds of hybrids rested within the cages. They weren't decrepit or poorly fed, no, they looked like animals waiting for a fight. The image Sophie rested inside one of those cages, very much not like the others. She seemed content for being in such a place. If one looked closely next to the cage mounted on the wall was a set of daggers. Sophie's set of daggers that she used now.
Another step and she was in an ally way, her image self dressed in all black from head to toe. She wielded the daggers, in front of her a group of people. They all looked the same, each shielded from her sight by cloaks. One had red. The red clad figure was pounced upon my image Sophie, stabbed once through the heart from behind. When the figure thrust its head up with surprise, the hood fell away. It was the boy she had been with at the fountain. The Sophie of now burst into tears just as the image one did.
Image Sophie sunk to the ground, the bleeding boy in her hands. The boy looked to her as she threw her daggers aside and sobbed over his body. The quiet was deafening, soft whispers between the two.
'You weren't supposed to be here. It should have been him. It was supposed to be him.' The image neko rocked back and forth as the boy gave one last breath.
It was then that another figure came into the picture. It too wore a red cloak. The figure began to yell and Sophie held onto the body tighter. The robed figure kicked her off of it. He threw his hood back revealing a face much similar to the boy who's body was motionless on the ground.
Image Sophie scrambled to her feet and ran right towards the Sophie of now. When the image and the body collided, Image Sophie disappeared and Actual Sophie stumbled backwards. She caught herself right as the Boy in red wrapped his hands around her throat.
"I will end you." He spat into her face. Sophie looked into his eyes, wild terror there. She couldn't breath but part of her found the ability to lift her arm and slam it across his elbows, breaking the hold. She then shoved him back through the door with all her strength before slamming it shut. The door itself heaved with a force so great, it sent Sophie sprawling, though it didn't open again.
She slid across the floor, panting, dark eyes fixated on the door.
"Derek..." She mumbled, an amount of terror in her eyes.
"He's coming for me."
